The tiny little chicks are fairly independent from the moment they hatch but do need a lot of protection from their Mum and Dad. I'd rather cull human beings who go out killing other human beings for the fun of it rather than fairly harmless birds who are protecting their young. What's being done about those monstrous pit bull type of dogs which have attacked and killed people in the UK? Cull them. What a bizarre question - but you've come to the right place for an answer. A very good friend of mine was vegan or vegetarian (sorry, can't remember which) and he did indeed eat road kill - just as long as it was still warm! He'd also have a big mac on the way back from the pub (because there was 'hardly any meat in it'), but I was sworn to secrecy never to let his wife know. I did manage to slip it in during the eulogy, which raised a few gasps from various rainbow types and tree-huggers present. Lovely guy who left us far too soon. Well, it would depend on why you are vegan or vegetarian. Some vegetarians justify eating fish because they aren't farmed and don't contribute to damaging the planet. Personally I think that's a cop out. If you eat fish you're not vegetarian. Simples. But road kill is interesting, because you haven't contributed to the animals death. Assuming it wasn't you who ran it over. Probably safer in the UK when some days it doesn't get warmer than a fridge.

Technically, if you eat fish and not meat you're a pescatarian, although I've another friend (fortunately still with us) who describes himself as a 'vegetarian that eats fish' because he says most people don't know what a pescatarian is (and it sounds a tad pretentious). But it doesn't stop there... Vegetarians: those who avoid all animal flesh, but do consume dairy and egg products Lacto-ovo vegetarians: vegetarians who avoid all animal flesh, but do consume dairy and egg products Lacto vegetarians: vegetarians who avoid animal flesh and eggs, but do consume dairy products Ovo vegetarians: vegetarians who avoid all animal products except eggs Vegans: vegetarians who avoid all animal and animal-derived products 1 Australian Citizen since 2007 | Returned to the UK 2008-2011 | Lived in Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns. Folk who eat road kill probably also go dumpster diving. Good on them but for me ................. no thanks.

Probably safer in the UK when some days it doesn't get warmer than a fridge. I see what you mean but I've never liked eating meat simply because I don't like it. Really can't stand the smell of beef, pork and especially lamb. Used to eat chicken but not fussed about that so haven't eaten it for years. I was brought up on a farm so was used to seeing the animals shipped off to market or slaughter. My grandmother lived in a market town and the slaughter house was not far from her house. I was always very upset about the noise coming from there so from a very young age stopped eating meat all together. I am the only one in the family who chose not to eat meat. When we were kids my siblings thought nothing of plucking the feathers and pulling the guts out of a freshly killed chook Dad would bring into the house. I'd run off to vomit .............. Ugh! The smell. Never bothered anybody else.
