Fair point about the origin of the game, but it's the Queensland Maroons - the Aussies just can't seem to pronounce the word 'maroon' properly! 1 1 Australian Citizen since 2007 | Returned to the UK 2008-2011 | Lived in Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns. Beautiful location and vilified by most Sydneysiders as being a bit downmarket, but very underrated. You'll have easy access to the Sapphire Coast, which is one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Australian Easy access Australian style, that is - it's a good 4 hour drive from the Gong to the Sapphire Coast! On the other hand there is a lot of beautiful scenery in the Illawarra/Shoalhaven itself. Seven Mile Beach or Hyams Beach for example, or the great views of the coast from up on the escarpment.

Until I just googled it I hadn't realized that the Sapphire Coast was only the section south of Bermagui down to Eden. I previously thought it was the whole coastline south of Sydney. Well there you go, you learn something new everyday! Anyway, I think the whole coastline is beautiful and totally underrated. 1 Australian Citizen since 2007 | Returned to the UK 2008-2011 | Lived in Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns. It's one of the few things I miss from the UK, food-wise. Those prices sound exorbitant - do you live in London or the South East? My mate was complaining that fish and chips was 'almost a tenner' in Stafford a few months back, which I guess means it was 8 or 9 quid. You can still get for a fiver in Blackpool so that seems like the place to go, although you might spend much more in petrol! https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/chippy-claims-cheapest-fish-chips-29894327 You need to check what fish it is.

HappyHeart 14,325 Posted May 28 Just booked my flights to UK in July. Amazing how much more urgent travel plans become when the parents are ailing. The joys of the immigrant. I hope we will have hat trick over 3 years after an 8 year hiatus. Back last Nov and plan to return next March for my Dads big birthday (God willing he will still be with us) The money is suddenly irrelevant.
