But we don't all have Polish Grandma's!

My son was lucky enough to have his (Ukrainian) Grandma here in Australia for Grandparent's day last year. In Australia it's the last Sunday in October. That meant he had her at the school event (they always have a special event in the week before for Grandparents to come in) for the first time ever.

It should be every day 🙂

Our old girl went over the rainbow bridge yesterday. Even though she was 14 and had been deteriorating it still seems too soon and was a shock. Been with us for over 12 years.  She just couldn't cope with life anymore. In a way glad she went of her own accord and we were spared making the call but nonetheless she suffered for a few hours. We kept her at home overnight which was painful but comforting and took her to the pet crem this morning. Trying to make sense of it. I know it's quite clear cut but it doesn't feel that way right now. RIP Tilly 2008-2023.

So sorry to hear that.  They certainly  leave a gaping hole.  I'm sure she had a wonderful 12 years with you.

Our old mare Cilla was "put to sleep" last Wednesday.  She was 33 and had bad arthritis.  It had reached the stage where she wanted to lie down a lot but then she couldn't get back up again.  Life had become a painful struggle for her.

She is buried in a corner of a field near her favourite shady tree.

I’m sorry to hear this. It’s such a difficult decision. I’m glad she is in her favourite spot now giving back to the earth. Best wishes.

We will bury Tilly’s ashes in Autumn when the rains come, alongside those of her brother who died 2 years ago and plant a special tree there. We will also get a bench for a shady spot and have a plaque made so we can sit there and think of them both.

About to invest some $500 in a litre of 4CYTE for our gelding.  Shoeing is becoming a problem due to arthritis in one leg.

In her much younger years long before we had her, Cilla was a showjumper and I reckon her poor old knees got a lot of bruising and also damage to the bottom joints of the hock.  All of that resulting in arthritis in later years.  The vet prescribed Eqioxx which helped a bit but the poor old girl had had enough in the end.

Hope your boy improves after his treatment.

He's only Scottish when he loses. When he wins he's British.

Sounds about right. A bit similar to racing greyhounds who have a predisposition to osteosarcoma. All that cumulative inflammation from racing injuries as young dogs cannot do them much good.
