Even better today as friends of theirs with 2 children have come for the day, so it finally feels like Christmas, lots of fun and lots of mess.

newjez 10,751 Posted December 26, 2021 7 hours ago, Bottie said: I had a brilliant Christmas Day … I hope everyone else did … I think this has been the best Christmas ever. Took the 23rd off so we went for a long walk in friston forest. 7 miles. Then spent the rest of the day preparing for Christmas. Finished off with an escape room at Tully's farm. My boss texted Xmas Eve morning and said the company had given everyone the day off. So went for a long walk on the downlink trail. Finished off all the preparations. Kids are older so got to have a few drinks Xmas Eve then sleep in Xmas day. Xmas day went for a 3 mile walk around the village in light drizzle which promptly stopped. Lots of people out walking. Lots of traffic too. I remember when you would never see a car on Xmas day. We had pre cooked the potatoes. Parsnips were home grown. Nigella brined turkey. Delicious. Two hours for 4.5 kilos then an hour to rest. Just perfect. Not overcooked and very juicy. We ban all TV and phones on Christmas Day. We filled the day with bit of alcohol, lots of good food, and homemade quizzes and games. We provide little prizes. Youngest won two this year, and was chuffed because they used to be over his head. Shows how he is growing up. Finished off the evening reminiscing about past Christmases with a few drinks. Boxing Day is more of the same. Raining hard though, so we won't walk. To be honest I don't think it would have been much different without Covid. Things will change in the future though as the boys get in relationships and start their families. But that's just the way things go. No point worrying about it. Just hope they take on from our experience and make Christmas great but uncomplicated. I have to say it wouldn't be the same without my missus. She makes Christmas. Growing up in Australia Christmas was nothing special. Without extended family, just a normal day where you got a few presents. It's different there now because the family has grown. Families make Christmas. 2 Nearly there! Don't drop the ball now guys! Vaccines are weeks away. Stay safe!

She needs to go back next week She wasn’t looking great yesterday but we still managed to have a nice day. I just want it to be sorted for her

Blue Flu 991 Posted December 26, 2021 (edited) Only place to be in Perth was emersed in water. Cottosloe Beach until 11 am was great. After that too hot. But Scarborough Beach both evenings was ideal. A few Beers in tone of the ocean view watering holes, other night it was Spanish language all around us, with four tables and close to twenty very fit looking , what I suspect part of some sporting team, but if that was the case no idea how they got across the border. One had a shirt with Costa Rico Surfing Team on it but could have meant nothing. That must be Perth's most multi cultural Beach. (by far) Off again this morning. It's been adopted by appearances as Perth's primary African Beach and probably Indian/Sub Continent as well. Edited December 26, 2021 by Blue Flu

I’m feeling fine, so far just a slight sore throat so fingers crossed it stays that way.

Hopefully it will be mild as you have had 3 jabs. Do you find out if it is Delta or Omicron? Buy a man eat fish. The Day, Teach Man, to lifetime. - Joe Biden. Do you find out if it is Delta or Omicron? Thank you. No you don’t get to find out which one but I’m certain it’s Omicron. The symptoms for that are like a cold and the most common one is a sore, itchy throat. I have none of the traditional Covid symptoms like loss of taste/smell, high temperature and cough. Just a slightly sore throat that I would describe as a bit itchy. I’m currently lubricating it with a lovely glass of mulled wine. They’re saying for most that are triple jabbed it’s just mild symptoms and so far it’s certainly very mild. I’m already bored though as I’m stuck in for a minimum of seven days. You don't seem to be alone. At our family webex the English lot were saying that far more people they know are now catching covid and they reckon the whole country will have it in a few weeks, which is probably a good thing if it's mild and they don't smash their own hospitals. We will be next...NSW and ACT cases are now rising exponentially but the good news is that it's summer and there's less pressure on indoor locations....hopefully it will be controllable and we can avoid the death rates you're seeing over there, which are high but not proportionally as high ss when Delta was dominant. It’s certainly everywhere right now but mild for the huge majority. I am in a work WhatsApp group (only 7 of us) and I put a message on there saying I had tested positive. Later that day my manager responded saying his wife had as well and today my friend added her 21 year old son has just got positive results back. A local friend of mine who dropped some shopping to my doorstep this morning was going for a test because she has cold like symptoms. I think herd immunity will be sorted out in no time at all now.
