Hi,

It seems the only quick route in is for state sponsorship / employer sponsership. can anyone tell us if the employer sponsership has to be in your nominated occupation or can you get an employer to sponser you in a different occupation? If you can just get an employer to sponser you, does the job have to be on the MODL?

Thanks to anyone who can help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evening I have posted the same question and the replys I have had are that you can have a 176 in and be sponsored at the same time, when the 176 is finalised this then cancels out the temp sponsored visa, thats the info I have any how but feel free to advise me otherwise.

I am no expert, but I dont think the occupation has to be on the MODL for 457... but I think it has to be on the SOL (and in turn the ENOL) to justify the sponsor sponsoring you ... if you see what I mean. I think it comes down to you having to show your experience/qualifications in the field for which you are applying - I think. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but that's my understanding.

Double check the SOL though.. I didnt think my profession was on there... but it was, just titled differently.

If you visit www.immi.gov.au and search 457 there's a good explanation on there - I read it yesterday. Hope that helps some

Hi that is sort of right, the last visa issued to you is the visa you have. eg if you get a 457 then a 176 great, but this can happen the other way so a temp visa can superceed a perminant visa.

That was not the question, the question was do you have to be sponsored in your nominated occupation, as some jobs cross over.

ideally to get a free ENS visa by changing over your 176

Guest bobbyjo

thanks everyone!!

Its like a minefield and giving me headache. We have only just completed AQFIII and tra so for everything to change at such an early stage is a nightmare.

We have been advised that unless we have 36 months to wailt for the processing of the visa, our only option is to find an employer sponser if we want to 'jump' the queue, and hubby is 42 so not much time left!!!!!!!!!

All advice is very much appreciated!!!!
