Anybodies TV not working after shipping?

Good morning,

Please can anyone advise? We have chosen our removal/shipping company and are quite prepared to take out relevant insurance but after chatting with the move coordinator, she pointed out some additional premiums/policies - the ones I recall are "Pairs and Sets" and something like "Mechanical Breakdown".

The question I am asking is has anybody got to Australia to find their TV's don't work after being shaken about on board the container? Or that one of your dining chairs is broken etc?

Are these valid add on premiums or is it just a selling ploy?

I'm interested in any thoughts or comments.

Thanks

Di:huh:

I think it can all be down to luck really. Feedback suggest that most people receive their goods on time and in tact however you do get some poor souls who have opened their container to find damage to lots of stuff.

I would definitely take the insurance (after a little price banter), or shop around for insurance from somewhere else but its not worth the risk to have nothing at all especially if your furniture is of value.

good luck with the move

I have not heard of those things you mentioned as an extra, Im pretty sure they were included in our insurance with Allied Pickfords we just had to list any pairs or sets.

Insurance is a must, we had quite a bit of damage and most of it appears to have been done at customs or when the stuff was moved to another container for delivery. Thankfully it has all been resolved very ealisy and it has been settled.

Hi Cal and A

Thanks for your responses. We will deffo be getting insurance, but the way it was described is that we insure our contents in the container for a certain fee and then if we had owt mega valuable, we insure that, then if we want to insure a pair or set, we add that on. It just seemed like one item could be insured two or three times.

I know I'm rambling, so I'll be going. Thanks again, Di
