All Cat 5ers

A bit late with my update from Friday last week - was working at home and am only in the office 2 days a week at the moment.

Congratulations this week to noone

Although check out the Cat 3 thread as GGx0x0 has taken the plunge and developed a Priority 3 thread - good luck guys!

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migrat...e-you-now.html

But we have good news

Good news is that Moller have got their SS through and now join us in purple. Congratulations.

Plus at long last Pinal has got a CO again! Warren&Liz & Gilbert also have a CO!

That is 3 people who have been waiting since Feb 2008 and all of the Feb 2008 applicants on this thread - maybe some of the Dinosaurs are migrating at long last. It is great to see people who have been waiting for ages to finally get a CO.

We have noone waiting from March - so it will be interesting to see when they pick up the April 2008 folks to see if they are trying to work in date order for those who have been waiting.

Remember Tasha lists the full details of everyone are listed on the front page.

Key:

Purple: Waiting for grant (I have highlighted in bold people who attached SS prior to 23rd Sept)

Red: Visa granted & bold = granted this week

Black people lost to capping and ceasing (bought in July 2010)

Brown: People who have not been active in 2010- please let me know if you are in brown and I will re-activate you!

High risk country HR = ®, Low risk country LR = ©

Underlined = People who know, or think, they have a current CO (PRIOR to 1st July 2010)

I have called DIAC yesterday, and after 15 minutes of waiting and spending almost my entire Skype credits, a lady talked to me.

I explained to her my concern about my situation. I have applied in 2009, under a ASCO code (2129-79 - Building Engineers nec - Environmental engineers). Building engineers nec are not ont the new SOL, so that put´s me under Priority 4. But, Environmental Engineer is on the new SOL, but I checked the transitional arrangements from ASCO to ANZSCO, and I am not converted automatically to the new code. So I asked the lady if I should get a new skills assessment with the correct code, and if it´s possible to send it to DIAC, or if I would have to reapply for a visa.

The lady said she didn´t know. Said that they were doing police checkings at this time, and looking through all the files from everyone who has already applied, to see in which category they fall and to advise them if they should do anything, in cases like mine....She said it´s not fair to be in a situation like mine, so that´s why they were going through all files. She told me she was sending my file to this "special section" to be checked, and I would be contacted in 4 weeks to receive instructions.

My agent received the following response from DIAC today:

" Thank you for your email in regards to the above Skilled Migration Application.

I can confirm that this application is being processed, and is still undergoing routine processing.

You will appreciate, however, that all non-citizens applying for visas to enter Australia are considered on their individual merits and against legal requirements set out in Australia's migration legislation. This often includes requirements for mandatory health, character and national security or other checks that are undertaken by other agencies and can take some time.

The timing for the completion of the checks varies from one case to another depending on individual circumstances. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide you with a definitive timeframe for finalisation of your application as some cases may take many months to finalise.

I will provide the maximum extensions on the health and character clearances that I am able to grant.

As soon as the routine processing has been finalised you will be advised accordingly."

You're going that far..but it's seems they are taking long time to finalize your application. All the best!

Hi Angie,

Congratulations on your job offer! Tara received an offer of sponsorship from an amazing salon about a month ago, we obviously jumped at the chance! They've exchanged contracts and we're just waiting for a decision on the salons nomination.

We're on a 121 visa though which is obviously permanant instead of the temporary 457, have you asked whether the salon will sponsor you on a permanant visa? as I have heard about people having small problems with the restrictions imposed because of a temporary visa.

Thank you so much, and well done to you too  Our agent is sorting out the loads of paperwork right now, although he said that could take a few weeks, and yes the salon is offering a permanent place too so I guess it will be a 121 visa now, thanks for clearing that one up

Hi,

May you please update my information?

I have been assigned CO on 24/8/2010.

Best regards

Hi Rupani,

Congratulations on getting a CO, this is great news for you!

I just wanted to say, that I am not really updating this thread anymore as it is really out of date as Cat 5 no longer exists. However, there is a new thread which is for the Cat 3 peeps; http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/91482-new-category-3s-where-you-now.html if you have not already seen it, come and join that one!

Cheers

A quicky update about Jupiter123, in one of the stickys s/he has confirmed their VISA IS GRANTED!!!! It's great news as only 5 days after jupiter resubmitted the PC's and MEDs for a second time they changed priority processing (DIACs july 19th changes I think?) which meant jupiter was a cat4 I believe, yet somewhere DIAC must have a heart as they did continue and process the application, rather than put it on hold for a second time.

Once again CONGRATS JUPITER!!!

Hi Em & Danny

It appears that you might fall into cat 4 if you are not on the new SOL. This is apparently not a good category to fall into as it wont be looked at until all cat 1-3 have been finalised! So the DIAC are not really giving any guidance of how long that might take.

The only hope you have is if your trade is on the new SMP (State Migration Plan) if it is on the state you have nominated you should move into Cat 2 and be processed quicker. However, the SMP's have not been released yet and there has been another delay on them being released due to the recent elections. Some agents have said they might not come out now before Jan.

You might want to think about changing states if your trade does not fall onto the SMP for QLD as it might possibly be on say WA?! You could also try and speak to QLD and see if they will nominate you on their "Off List"! Its worth a shot!

However, there have been so many changes lately, I am sure there will probably be more again sooner or later and it might see your application change category again!

Tasha xx:hug:

I was pretty pee`d of to say the least when I was informed on the ulikely hood of my case not being looked at unitl after 2012. But from the this recent news,, i`m A: In for an even longer wait.,,. or B: Will be culled from the list? (Hoping the later is not posible? But is it??? - Oh dear - got all them horrible butterflies all over again!) Why o why do they mess about soo often.

Its an awful situation many have found themselves in. I can't believe they can get away with treating applicants like they do!

However, all hope is not lost as you might find you are on the SMP and also, as you already know, they make changes to the immigration system so regularly that you might find yourself bounce back up to a better position!

Good luck,

Tasha x
