exenger
Hi all, I was just wondering, does anyone know the average length of time for the processing of a defacto visa? I am currently applying for a 457 onshore but have been advised to withdraw as I am having trouble getting the work refs from UK. My gf/partner of 5 years is applying for PR, after successfully qualifying as a chef on a student visa. She is currently on a bridging visa while they decide. We have lived in Oz continuously for the last 4-5years. And I think it may be better to withdraw rather than wait for a negative decision by those in the Ministry of Annoyance:no:. cheers. Happy Lass
Officially they will tell you it will take anywhere between 6 - 9 months for an onshore application for one of the partner visas but it can take much, much less time. The key seems to be to have a well-prepared complete application that will save you and your case officer time but it's no guarantee that yours will be seen any quicker unfortunately! If you search through this part of the forum, you'll find a lot of threads on the subject from people who have also applied onshore, which will hopefully help you piece together a realistic time-frame. Best of luck
