Guest fluffy1984
Hi All, This past few days have been a rollercoaster. My partner and i have been going through the SA State Sponsorship route. We got out Vetasses application approved and so we were feeling positive. My bf went and met up with an old work colleague who runs the office he used to work in in Sydney. They had a few beers and got on the subject of Australia, bf explained how he was desperate to go back and that we were going through this long winded process to get a visa for South Australia. He then just said "oh why didn't you say so, you can have your old job back if you like!!" Just like that!! So the offer has been received and we are going back to Sydney in October on a 457, which we have been advised within 18 months automatically turns into Permanent Residency....talk about a dream come true!!! Now i have the stressful task of moving us and our 2 kittens in a very short space of time...oh the joys of migrating...AGAIN!!. I'd just like to give a big thanks to all the members at pomsinoz, i've been given some great advice and help with my worries throughout this process. Good luck to you all and drop me a line if any of you are Sydney for a nice cold beer:jiggy:
LukeM
Ah wow that's excellent news! You're very lucky. I'm sure everyone else here will agree with me when I say that!! You'll do fine I'm sure, and you know if you have any queries or whatever there will be a PIO member standing by to help you out along the way! Best of luck with the 457 Luke

Guest guest17520
which we have been advised within 18 months automatically turns into Permanent Residency....talk about a dream come true!!! make sure you check that out, I am on a 457 and have to wait 2 years before I can apply to become a permanent resident. It may be different in your case, not sure, but make sure you find out. Either way your coming back so good luck.
Guest fluffy1984
My partner is out of work now ,, so things are looking up for him and fingers crossed i can get a job back with my old company. Tab i hope things work out for your daughter! I'm not 100% sure on this "PR straight away" business either, as we also thought you had to work 2 years in the same job before you could apply. Hey ho, either way we get back, so if does turn into PR, happy days!! If not i'm sure we could wait a couple of years Thanks for all your kind words! Busy busy busy organising and DREADING saying goodbye to my family but can't wait to get back into the Aussie lifestyle xxx

Hi just to add to that, my understanding of the 457 is that it is a sponsorship of up to 4 years, you can apply for pr whenever you like, however if you are getting sponsored for pr, it is the company's decision as to what point they sponsor you, i.e some employers will sponsor you after a year, others may be longer. You have to apply for the pr, as you have done for the 457, i don't think it is automatically changed into pr? I would def check that out. Saying that though, it doesn't really matter as you are getting out there and will have plenty of time to think about applying for pr. Congratulations! hope it all works out for you!
