Hello everyone!!

My wife & I are struggling to get a good internet package. I work in IT and need a good service in order to work from home etc. Has anyone come across a good package with anyone? We will be based in Sydney from next week and any help would be great....:-)

Thanks to you all,

If you do a check on all my posts, you will find a great lon thread about Oz and broadband!

First the signing up on the phone in a Telstra shop...got us scammmed into a mobile phone at $20 min a month!

At just under 100Km outside Sydney - the local phone exchange has run out of ADSL slots! and I need somebody to die before I have any chance of getting a lone.

I am currently using Bigpond / Telstra for landline and broadband. I get 10gig a month via Wifi, the shelf price is - first 12 months at 50% discount after that full price of AUD$160 ish. And its a three year contract!

I kicked up a stick about being scammed etc,. and luckliy somebody on here had a fax number to the boss of customer care.

I ended up with a deal at 50% for the 3 years, & FOC Wifi modem & no 3 year lock in.

I was wise enough to get all this in writing.

There are some deals knocking about, but you need to chec them out..... and it will take about 2 weeks to get online..if your really lucky.

I think the infrastructure here is well behind the UKs. You may have more luck living in Sydney. Here in WA, Telstra's top 5 or 6 packages weren't available to me purely down to location. The internet is slow at work and at the library, at least compared to UK speeds. And its expensive, used to be free from Sky, $80 a month here (although I get it half price at the mo for buying TV, phone & t'internet off Fox).
