Metoo Posted June 8, 2009 Share Posted June 8, 2009 hi everyone, please can you folks give me some advice regarding evidence for defacto visa. Although my Australian boyfriend and I have lived together for the past four years in UK, we actually have very little evidence financially to support this. The main reason being that we are in the fortunate position of both owning a house each in the uk. Although we live in my house during the week as it is close to school, work etc, we live in my boyfriends house at weekends as his house is bigger than mine and in a better area. Hence we have two lots of bills, ie phone, TV, utilities etc. My Boyfriend pays the bills on his house and I pay the bills on mine as neither one of us can afford to pay on both, we share the cost of food, holidays, socialising etc. Apart from the above, we do have joint car insurance, joint medical insurance, evidence of family holidays for the past 3 yrs, and a joint savings account. We also have a hospital letter naming my boyfriend as my daughters guardian. We are currently trying to sell one of our houses but until it is sold we will continue to have two council tax bills etc. The second house needs some work doing on it before it will be ready for selling, but it will be sold eventually. (hopefully) Is it strictly necessary to provide the joint bills evidence or can we rely on the rest, ie, insurances etc? Guest Emcooper Posted June 9, 2009 Share Posted June 9, 2009 when you do your personal statement, explain that you own a house each and are trying to sell one etc. Do you have any corresponcance addressed to you at his house or vice versa? if not def find as much info etc on all other joint accounts payments etc, like you say holiday stuff too. the more the better i would think Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
aussiedreamz Posted June 9, 2009 Share Posted June 9, 2009 We had similar problems as to what evidence to provide as we both had seperate houses which meant seperate bills, car insurance, no joint accounts etc. We supplied mobile and landline phone records, emails sent to/from friends that mentioned our names in and 2 stat decs from each of us, our parents and 2 close friends and also a few photo's of us together at parties (drunk I may add). Guest bentkitty Posted June 9, 2009 Share Posted June 9, 2009 Provided you have some letters addressed to you at the same address (ie you can prove that you live together) it shouldn't be a problem. Our situation was a little similar - about 4 years ago I moved into my then boyfriend's flat (he's now my husband) and all the bills and utilities in fact everything to do with our home has always been in his name, and we never had (and still don't have) joint bank accounts. Nevertheless we had proof going back 3 years (letters from the council, mobile phone bills etc) showing that we have been living together. Also we added photos over a period of time, evidence of holidays together, and cards sent by friends upon our engagement... We didnt do stat decs either.
