SPOUSE 309 - applied in the last few weeks?

    Recommended Posts

    Guest Ozplorers

Applying for a spouse (309) visa, our progress so far....

20/4 - sent off application (frontloaded).

    21/4 - money taken

27/4 - email from C/O confirming receipt of application

29/4 - received all the evidence we'd sent back in the post

05/5 - phoned C/O who infromed they didn't require anything else but there was a backlog of apps and it could take 3 months to hear.

Has anyone else who's applied in the past couple of weeks heard anything? or been granted a visa?

Just received an email (the first contact) from my CO introducing herself and telling me that average processing time for this type of visa is 3 - 4 months at present!

Interesting since most people I have 'spoken' to seem to get theirs in 10 - 20 days.

Ah no this is not good news guys!! We put in our application last week on Thursday, have heard nothing yet. Were applying for a spouse visa, we pre-loaded the police and health check. We want to get it back before June, but it doesnt sound likely. please everyone keep me posted on your news - and good luck!!

becandtarso, I wouldn't worry too much (I know, it is easy for me to say... we're still waiting for our house to sell) as looking at this thread: http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/58449-summary-spouse-visa-processing-times-offshore-uk-please-add-your-stats.html things seem to move relatively quickly on 309s and similar. I can't imagine that changing too dramatically in the space of a few weeks!

    All the best!

Hi Bubba, thanks for that link, it was very reassuring!! I am going to check my email asap, cant do that at work!! Hopefully the CO will have contacted. Thanks for your help.

We applied in London, so Im hoping the application will move more quickly than the Sydney ones seem to be.

    Good luck to all!

My understanding is that the timing depends on where you have filed. On other posts here I've heard that Sydney is taking 6 mths but London can be done very quickly-in weeks. So in making these posts you need to mention which office of Australia govt you lodged at. Otherwise, the guidance won't be very helpful to you.

Hi. Not sure if you have done any research at all but you should start with the Partner booklet on the DIAC website. Here is a checklist from DIAC's website for the prospective spouse visa:

Wow, goldy, you bumped a very old thread. At first when I was reading it I thought something was horribly wrong as the people posting were talking about a 10-20 day turn around for a 309! :err: Then I noticed this thread is from four years ago. Unfortunately I think you'll find processing times are very, very, VERY different from what you see in this particular thread. I can't speak to Canada specifically, but most low-risk countries are looking at a wait time of several months to a year for this visa right now.

    Applied for PMV 300: 18 April 2013 (Washington, D.C.) Police Checks: Front-loaded. Medicals: 3 June 2013 Meds Referred: ? Meds Cleared: 8/2013 PMV GRANTED: 03 JAN 2014! Married: March 2014. Applied for 820: 28 April 2014. 820 GRANTED: 07 July 2014!

        Hi All,
I am currently a resident of the UK and have been going out with my girlfriend, who is from New Zealand for 6 months now. Her sponsorship in the UK will run out in October of next year and we're looking for a move to Brisbane, Australia. We've looked into partner Visas but we're not sure if she's eligible as a sponsor as she hasn't been living in Australia amongst other things. Can you help at all? Any advice would be much appreciated.
        Thank you
        Sam

        Hi,

        I have a problem here.
I am currently in the EOI queue with 65 points.
Recently, I got 79+ in PTE and waiting to update it in EOI , so my score will turn to 75.
But, my wife is pregnant now.
        I have questions like,
        1. Is this the right time to update EOI, because I might get invite soon
        2. If I proceed, file VISA, my wife can't produce her health certificate, so how long can I hold the VISA process ?
        3. Or should I wait for 2-3 months, update my EOI and proceed for VISA as I might hold the VISA process for a shorter period.

        Experts plz guide?

I have searched the internet for an answer and can't find one. My husband and i need a USA police check (FBI check). We have different surnames. Should we send these separately in different envelopes or can we send them together? This seems like such a trivial question but I'm really confused by this. I'm guessing it should be sent in separate envelopes?

        Kind regards.

Me and my partner are applying for a skills visa. Both of us have wanted skills, my partner is the main person applying for the visa and I am going on his partner. We have been together for 6 years, we haven’t lived together and we don’t have a joint bank account. We currently live between our parents houses as we are saving to emigrate. We have evidence through photos, flight tickets, statements from friends. What is needed to ensure the visa will be granted? What else can we submit as evidence? Has anyone applied for a visa in a similar situation who could help?
        thanks!
