Sorry I missed the night folks...personal things and exhaustion following work made it impossible for me...

Hope to make the next one...well done Jules for organising..it's a tall order and you deserve a pat on the back. How about girls taking turns in their own homes next time where possible...bring a plate and BYO..makes for a cheap night!

Hi LondonGal

I don't think it should be harped on too much because it distorts what a good time we all had. However, I do think its worth discussion or trying to understand it because we want to continue the nights out in the future and so maybe need to see what can be learned from it.

I think part of the problem was that the restaurant did not allow for separate billing or paying for drinks individually as you go along. I know because I asked at the start of the evening.

Jules has a copy of both bills so she may be able to shed more light on the subject but I think we ended up paying for 18 people even though there was only 17 of us because the buffet offer in done on the basis of 4 people per serve, so we would have paid for that 18th person.

We had 14 of the meat buffets at $45 each so $630, 4 vego ones at $40 each so $160 there; a grand total of $790 for the food - the rest was drinks $259 (around $1049 minus $790). If we had just averaged the drinks pp it would have been $16 each for each of the 17 people there. So maybe just dividing the drinks equally would have saved a bit of pain not to mention the time standing there ttrying to make any sense out of it with the restaurant staff.

I am still confused by it all so hopefully Jules may have the answers in the receipts she has at hand?

Still loved it though. Hey and the Rockingham/Baldivis/Canningvale crew were looking at going ten pin bowling in Rocky at some stage too (all welcome if they're keen to travel down to see us!!).

Also a few doggie day dates and training sessions were being negotiated for the future. Wait till I have met with Cesar Milan at Burswood on 7 June first though:biggrin:

Cheers

Julia

Hi Julia,

Yes, I'm confused too as I know the girls I was sitting with and myself all put in the correct money. I agree, I don't want it to distract from the good evening but you are also out of pocket for what you did not have. Have sent you a PM.

Cheers, LG.

Thanks for caring LG but I am not too worried about it or I would not have put the extra in. Just wanted the evening to end in a good way and get it sorted.

Karma will always win out

Sounds like one of my nights out! Always a pain when they won't split the bill! I find it best if you agree to split the bill among all the guests equally...either that or just agree separate bills from the start..restaurants tend to not be keen on that though- too much hassle for them. I've had many a night out when you're busy totting up the bill and arguing the toss over that extra glass of wine-embarrasing and unecessary- also unfair on the one who ends up forking out! Jules if you're out of pocket from me not coming..as I said let me know and I'll reimburse.

Any one have an opinion on my idea of nights in at peoples homes? I'd be happy to host one-a lunch would be good for me if anyone interested..my 3 yr old tends to get overexcited when we have visitors and he wouldn't go to bed if I had an evening do!

Hi Fiona

Glad to hear you sounding a bit better, hope things are working themselves out for you.

Yes, I would love to come round for lunch at yours, prob can only do weekends though. Keep us posted - be careful, you may end up with a housefull!!

Hi Guruju

Was lovely meeting you. Next time you pay nothing - your nite out will be on the rest of us!! You are being very extremely decent about it all, I must say.

Hi Janette

I missed out on the casino nite out conversation but would be very up for it - let's make it the weekend this time though!! Regretfully, never got chance to talk to Sharon but I heard she's desperate for some fun.... Also, we could get together with our kids sometime if you like.

Hi Londongal

Are you definitely heading home? Was good to talk to you and hear your very well-informed experiences. Also, think it hysterical that pegasys sussed you out!! July Xmas sounds fab as well.

Hi Siblin

I truly hope things work out for you. You are a lovely, bubbly person who is clearly a devoted Mum. Maybe some more girly nites may make you feel more settled. Would be great to meet up with the kids sometime too.

All in all, it was great to meet everyone but so many of us and time went so quickly it was hard to speak to anyone properly. Has Jules been on, hope she wasn't too upset about whole bill thing. Its clear everyone is quite happy to pay up to sort it out.

Hope you are all having a good Friday nite.

Susie

Hello everyone - just wanted to add my two pennith

I was so pleased to meet everyone, couldn't believe when I picked up Toni and Stacey to find out they only lived a short distance from me in the UK - how uncanny is that - looking forward to getting to know them more.

I would have loved to have had a good drink and those that sat near to me will vouch for that - I NEED A HANGOVER AGAIN....lol

But look, the end of the night was awkward cause it just didn't make any sense - but lesson's learnt and next time (and I really hope there is a next time) we all chuck in the kitty at the beginning and we won't have the same problem.

I loved meeting the girls from good old Rocky area and can't wait for Julia to teach me how to be a good dog owner (wait till you meet my docile doggie) we can meet for a coffee sometime? I am up for a night out in Rocky so over to Jo for that one - by the way Jo if you have joined PIO my friend lives in Palm beach too....

Great night - great company - decent enough food - HAPPY DAYS xxx

I have set this up as a separate post but just in case you havent seen it.....There was some interest at the Perth Girls' night out at Chutneys for there to be a night out ten pin bowling in Rockingham, Western Australia.

Just thought I would gauge definite interest and get some days of the week and which month people would like to go bowling. So let me know if you are interested once you have checked out the info on the website AMF Bowling Rockingham, Western Australia

They do a number of packages from $35pp for the one below to a $55 one or even a $75pp one. Any extra drinks are able to be bought individually

2 games of bowling and shoe hire

• Classic hot dog

• Crispy calamari rings

• Mini spring rolls

• Fresh vegetable bites and dips

• Tempura fish bites

• Seasoned potato wedges

• Beverage

(your choice of a bottle of beer, glass of wine or soft drink)

I'll inquire with the company in Rocky to see if there are any minimum numbers etc.

Look forward to hearing from you re when and on what night you'd like to have this event held on.

Anyone travelling a fair distance from outside the area - I do have a spare room with a nice queen sized bed (as long as you do not mind dogs as we have 4 of them) but they have their own beds in our room. The spare room is a dog free zone

Hi All

Tim is away till Tuesday so there is no one that can authorise my adding the Ten Pin bowling to the Events and Meetings calendar on PIO until Tim's return.

Maybe check the events and meetings section on PIO on Wed so you can RSVP formally.

Cheers

Hi Girls,

I am relieved to see there was still positive feedback for the night out, the debacle at the end kind of spoilt it for me.

As other people have said, I was handed one bill for around $600 & on that bill there was 10 buffets @ $45. I asked if there was a bill for the other table (to the people on that table) & was told no.

The bill should have been $45 each plus drinks, however as we had only been charged for 10 buffets I reduced it to $30 each plus drinks and that's what most people put in. This message didn't get through to everyone and some people still put in $45 plus drinks - it seemed strange at the time that we were over $100 over for the first bill!

Just as we were about to leave we were presented with a second bill for just over $400, I believe all those that had only paid $30 for food put in the rest but it still left us over $100 short.

I have no understanding how or why. I do know we ordered an extra meat buffet - not exactly sure why but then the vege buffets were cheaper and us vege's still put in $45. It can only really come down to the drinks - whether people under estimated or the restaurent overcharged we'll never know. With not everyone there it was impossible to check if all the drinks on the bill were indeed ours.

The restaurent are significantly to blame for the mix up - I was told clearly when I booked that they could not split the order and it was ONE bill. They were however very understanding and would have allowed us to pay retrospectively but I saw little point. In fact in the end they were willing for the deficit not to be made up but I think Guruju was concerned the reputation of Poms would be tarnished.

I'm glad it hasn't put an end to the idea though I think in future lets stick to set menu's with BYO (or drinks included) or places where people can buy their own drinks as they want them.

I'm glad to see Guruju has picked up the baton for the next one and can I suggest those of us who didn't dig deep to cover the deficit (& that includes me, who could only manage anouther $1) make sure her next night out is on us.

Hi All Please RSVP on the calendar - we need a minimum of 15 people and I have to paid a 10% deposit by credit card to hold the booking so I need to be sure there will be the numbers.

Also, I checked in case people RSVP and then dont turn up - AMF will still charge for the food component but not the 2 games and shoe hire, so you need to be aware of that.

Cheers

Julia
