Hello

Moving out to Croydon North area soon. Both work in the CBD - any tips/advise on best commute?

EG Bus/Train, Bus, Drive & park at stations (what is the parking situ like) or drive all the way into the city.

Thanks

Hi there,

You have both Croydon and Mooroolbark Stations, there is parking at both, and there will be buses to both stations if you do not drive. The trains either stop at all statiions to Box Hill which is a transport 'hub' and then express to Richmond (a changeover station) or they can stop all stations, then some go through a small underground city loop before pulling into the main station in the CBD (Flinders Street).

From Croydon, with the limited express train at that time of the morning (the trains are busy and often packed) you can expect about 50 minutes door to door. We are hoping the State government here in Victoria will organise themselves to release the new Myki card tickets for the Met Transport system but it has been a balls up so far, and we are still waiting. Consequently from the outer eastern train stations it can be expensive to buy a weekly/monthly ticket. ($49.00 currently for weekly non-concession). By the way, Croydon is preferable to Mooroolbark (lots of young kids often hang around the station and they have had some problems - caution)

Hope this helps.

Olly

Hi,

The drive all the way into the city is to be avoided.

You would get to the end of the Eastern freeway in relatively no time and then grind to a halt for god knows how long.

Thanks for you replies. I actually live in Greensborough at the mo with a 5 min walk to the station so nice and easy. Have been getting a little fed up with Connex so that is why we were thinking driving perhaps would be better and would allow us to open up our seach (as we are looking in Greensborough, Eltham and really like the Croydon North area). Think driving all the way into the city at peak time is a no go from most places these days.

Thanks again

Just for your info - Doncaster has a park and ride, and is not far from G'borough, but a bit more expensive. If you are looking at Croydon and surrounds, you could check out Chirnside Park? Bus to station, but good buys there housewise.

Hi

I always thought the Hurstbridge line was one of the better ones!

Good luck
