Hi all,

Haven't posted before but have been a keen follower! We applied 9th may and our co was MC, but now have RN. I phoned her last wk as we hit the 5 month mark, she told us we met all requirements for permanent visa, which was great :-D she also said all may applicants have a 6 month wait, not the previous 5.. So just playing the waiting game now for a little longer! hope this helps :-)

Hi all, Hoping can get some help with a question thats bothering me and my fiance a bit at the moment.

As She will be entering Australia on a Pmv300 visa , the next process for us will be to apply for Visa 820 at the end of february after wedding for her temporary 2 year visa. She did her medicals in june of 2012 so medical is valid till june 2013 to our knowledge.

If the 820 takes 4-6 mnths to be looked at by the case officer after lodging in feb taking it past june 2013 will we need to provide a new medical by the time our visa is accessed or would it count from the date we lodge it in February. Im not sure on timeframes for this next process of the visa as it seems some wait along time and others get it quick.

We are just hoping that as we are lodging it in Feb than our meds will still be fine as its still in the 12 months that it valid.

Any info much appreciated.

So happy for yous!!!! X x con still waiting....... My visa was sent also in may 12th still not heard when it will come! Hope it's soon I really do! As my partner is already in Australia, and me and my two children miss him so much already! Hopefully this week or next???? :) x x x

Have you contacted your CO and let him/her know how much the children (and you) are missing their father? Have you booked your flights and are you going straight to a PR visa?

We asked after we had confirmation that my partner had passed the medicals about how long it would take and if we could book flights. Our CO (LG) told us mid- late October so we booked flights for November. I contacted LG a few weeks ago to confirm to her the date of our flights (we have to be in Oz for my son's wedding) and she again promised mid-late October. Since it is now the 17th she has done exactly as she said she would.

Hi again, I emailed my case officer yesterday and today to check if possible for a date? Did not answer yesterday and today he was away from the office until tomorrow, so will try again tomorrow see if I can get any further forward. I explained in email that my partner was there, I'd like to book flights and don't want to keep the boys away from seeing there dad for too much longer if I can help it. Yes permanent residence. Really really hope it's soon!!!! Wish there was a way to get granted sooner, has been an awful 6 month wait but know it will be worth it, it's just the not knowing part it's awful :( x x x

My partners sub class 100 granted today exactly 6 months and 1 day after application lodged application received 16th April. Visa granted 17th October. Hope tihis helps others as a guide as I always look to this forum for average dates. Thanks to all even though I am not into posting many threads and now we are due to fly in Decmeber I doubt I will be on poms in Oz anymore as the rest is down to me to experience for myself to see what I like and don,t like. W are all so different in needs and circumstances and I like the UK as I am sure I will like Oz in certain places as well. All the best to those who ate and those who go. Happiness is a frame of mind.

I really hope it's soon for you. I know what you mean about the wait. Fortunately my partner has been here in the UK with me. We are both so pleased its been granted and its only 5 months after we applied. However as its a PMV it is only a temp visa so my partner will have to apply for a PR two years after we are married in April...so we have a few years to wait for a PR for him.

Hi all

New to this but hoping someone can help and perhaps give us some pointers. My husband is an Australian citizen and we have been together 7 years, living together 6 and married earlier this year. He has been offered a really good contract for work out there so we are looking at going to aus with me applying for a partner visa.

My job is quite specialist so we weren't hopeful of finding a job for me in the area where he has been offered work. As it turns out, I got an offer through within six days of first speaking to an employment agent over there. The issue we have is that they want me to start mid January and we are now told that the visa processing time could be 8-9 months. We have had confirmation that the co has received all of the evidence etc they need (we sent certified copies of bank statements for joint account, joint life policy docs etc ) but won't be drawn on any way to expedite the application process.

Dont want to lose the opportunity of my job but don't think I will be able to get them to keep the vacancy open for me for as long as the visa will take.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am in a similar situation, but it looks as if the job I was hopeful of will still be available when my visa is (hopefully!) granted. With hindsight, I might have looked more into other possible options, although the partner visa gives me the most flexibility going forwards. Other visa classes I think would have been granted more quickly, and therefore in terms of money, although the upfront cost would have been higher, I would have been able to work and earn more quickly. If your job is specialised, is there a chance that you and your skills are valuable enough for them to wait for you? Would they sponsor you? It will depend on which parts of the equation are most important to you and your husband, eg being in the same country, finances, route to residency etc. Fiona

My partner will be in the same position. The medicals were done on the 7/6/2012. Our wedding is set for the 6/4/2012. I dont know the answer either so if anyone does it would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance

How old are you? Under 30? WHV may be an option, but I don't know how it works if you have applied for the partner visa. Hopefully someone might know.

Thanks - A WHV was my plan b -I am 30 in a few months so should be eligible. Only issue is I could only work with my proposed employer for six months but that takes us to June and hopefully my partner visa should be issued by then.

Does anyone else have any thoughts on that plan?

We actually have to come back to the uk in June for a friends wedding so that might fit with the grant of the partner visa. If not can always do a trip to nz when we get a date for the visa grant.

All v stressful. Made worse but the fact that husband is a carpenter so could get a work visa and take me with him, probably quicker too if he wasn't an Australian citizen. All seems a bit back to front but sure it will be worth it.

Hi , I had the same email today. JC will be leaving and my case officer is now KP. Slightly worried about the affect a hand over will have.

Is KP completely new , or is he taking over JC's workload + his existing cases?

I was allocated KP on a new partner app lodged ten days or so ago. Hoping likeyou do that this either means he is new so doesn't have too much of an existing caseload to work throughor that he can allocate more in a day as a result of taking existing cases on.

Suppose we have to keep our fingers crossed and wait!

Hi,

Wondered if anyone could help answer this question? I'm currently in Aus on an evisitor waiting for my 309/100 (applied offshore in June) to be processed. Done through agency (via husband's work) but not finding them very helpful or proactive - just declined to give me my new COs contact details :-(

When the visa is ready to be granted how much notice will I be given? I obviously need to get offshore but don't want to book flights if the date is then going to change. How have others managed this?

Also just to confirm that if a 100 is granted that I still have to be offshore? On the immigration website http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/partners/partner/309-100/how-to-apply.htm it says

"You must be outside Australia when:

· you apply for this visa

· your Partner (temporary) visa (subclass 309) is granted.

You may be either in or outside Australia when your Partner (permanent) visa (subclass 100) is granted."

- is this just if the 100 is granted a couple of years after your 309?

Thanks, Fiona

Hi

Know you have to be offshore when they grant the temp 309 if you have applied offshore but not sure how it works if they go straight to a grant of a permanent.

Does anyone know? Also, I know there are certain circumstances where they will go straight to the 100 but does anyone know what they are?

I know there are a few people onshore waiting for partner visa grants on visitor visas but has anyone had any experience of applying say for a WHV to allow them to work while waiting? I have a job to go to but didn't think there would be such a long wait for a visa as when my sister in law went with her de facto partner a few years ago they only had to wait a matter of weeks.

Thanks

Hi I applied for a partner 309 visa on 18th June. I was advised by my case officer VF on 2 October that no further info was required. Since her email my husband has changed employers for a better job. Do I need to inform her of this change by completing the form 1022 (Notification of Change in Circumstances)? The form doesn't detailed what sort of changes I should be advising my CO of.

Managed to speak to my new case officer last night (RN, replacement for MC). Contact number was on MCs answering machine message. She was really patient and helpful. Not able to give me definite grant date but hoping for about 6 months after my application date in early June. She said I can apply for a tourist visa (I think 676) and stay onshore (my evisitor expires at the end of November!). They will notify me by email when it's ready to be granted and I can make arrangements to leave. It wouldn't matter if I was onshore on that date, the 309/100 visa would be activated when I left and I'd then come back in on it.

And she told me it would be a 100 - hooray :-)

Ems4321: Re granting 100 vs 309 I believe they look at length of relationship, but not sure if other factors are also taken into account. We've been married 7 years. Re working on WHV while waiting for 309/100 to be processed, I'm not sure.
