I think I have got good news from the ACS.

I am suitable under the following Computing Professionals – (nec) 2231-79 but not specializing in any of the areas, so I would not be entitled to the each MODL points.

But I think I only need to complete the English test (third time lucky) I found the reading quite tough, so any tips let me know.

I have some questions for anyone that might know.

What is the next step (other than IELST)?

Am I at the stage where I could lodge an application?

I know everyone is changing to the 176 visa I was looking at the 175 before all the changes. I am not sure that the 176 is right for me as I would like to be as near to Perth as possible and to be on a PR visa.

Does where is the nearest region or place to Perth for the 176?

:wideeyed:

Hi turbopaul

Congratulations.

That's the same as my OH.

Yes, book your IELTS test now, and decide which visa to apply for.

We stuck with the 175, so haven't checked out the availability for state sponsorship. You'd need to check WA state list.

I think it seems as the reading section is the trickiest part of the test, so I guess just practise the past papers.

Good luck

Hi there, well done and congrats!

We are at the begining of getting my skills assessed with the Australian Computer Society, also under 2231-79 NEC and trying for the Specialising in Firewalls/Security etc....but not sure which way to go....

I have a HND (Higher National Diploma) in Computing, but most of my experience has been over the last 7 years+ gaining MCSA, MCSE, CCNA etc. What did you do for your application process:

1. Did you just apply for a skills assessment and RPL or just the skills?

2. How many years did you go back with Employer References 4 or 6 etc?

3. If you just get 2231-79, but not specialising in anything, does this just mean you cannot get the MODL points?

4. Sorry about all the questions, but we are just struggling knowing where to start and dont want to employ a Migration Expert...

Hope you can help and thanks again

Dean

Hi Dean,

If you go to www.ptlabs.com.au you can do a free initial assessment and Peter Chiam who has a great understanding about the IT ACS skill assessment, and is also a registered migration agent, will point you in the right direction. You can just use him as a consultant to get your skill assessment if you don't want to use an agent for the visa application.

Best of luck

hmmmm.....Peter Chiam didn't quite make sense to me in his replies, he didn't even bother getting back to me after I gave him the relevant details he was after....Go Matilda seem to be a whole lot friendlier and willing to help you.....

Are you sure Peter didn't reply? Maybe you were not clear or asked too many questions that he had already tried to answer? He has always replied to our queries - maybe you need to sign up with one of the Agents before expecting loads of advice???
