PGCE Post compulsory???????

Recommended Posts

Guest Lindseyf

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help i am just about to complete my PGCE post compulsory and i need to know wether this is recognised in Oz. Also do i need to do my QTLS or would i be able to do this in Oz.

I am starting to think i have done the course and that i should have gone into primary teaching as all my experience is within Special Educational needs.

I have worked with Autistic children, EBD children all aspects of learning difficulties and physical disability.

My degree is in Special Educational Needs and Sports studies and my PGCE specialism is Disability studies and British Sign Language. I am also qualified to Level 3 in British Sign Language.

Can anyone tell me what my job prospects are, wether i need to do further training in Oz or what my options are??

Thanks a million

Hiya!

I have a PGCE in early years and a degree in psychology. I had no problems when I sent my docs to Teaching Australia for assessment and we now have our visa. Not in Oz yet so don't whether schools prefer you to have a full degree in teaching. Hopefully someone on here can help more.

Best of luck!

Hi

My O/H is currently registering with Queensland as a teacher from the UK..

She is not the main visa applicant so shes not been assessed by TA..

This is a copy of an email she got from Queensland College of Teachers regarding applying for registration..

"Your PGCE certificate is acceptable evidence of completion of your PGCE, similarly for your BA(Hons).

In order to assess your eligibility for teacher registration the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) also requires academic records/transcripts. This is a record of the subjects you studied and your results.

If you do not have those, you will need to contact the universities at which you completed your studies to obtain them.

Your QTS certificate is not required with your application for teacher registration in Queensland.

The QCT accepts certified copies of original documents. You are not required to send original documents. You would be advised to retain original documents in case you need them for another purpose such as applications for employment as a teacher. However if you wish to send original documents, the QCT would accept them."

Hope this helps..

Hi im a primary school teacher with a degree in education studies and a pgce. ive been living in sydney for four months now and found it really difficult to get work because of the education office over here. I don't know where you plan to live, but my advice is to apply to the education board over here as soon as possible. They are all really slow. You will need to apply to the government system and the catholic system too to open up your options. You can do most of the application online, but what they don't tell you is that you will need to send certified copies of your identifiction, ie copies of passport, driving licence, copies of your degree/pgce certificates and copies of all your marks. Although i have been working in England as a primary school teacher for 8 years and theyve had copies of my certificates, it took them three months to tell me i need to send copies of my transcripts from my degree. Some states also charge you for doing the paperwork so be aware.

Good luck
