Bobj
Hey guys, anyone know much about or anyone in or near Tennant Creek ? If you can help it would be appreciated Thanks G'day mate, Tennant Ck, Northern Territory, is a gold mining town in the middle of the NT. It has a typical desert climate, hot and dry, or cold and dry...very cold at times. There is a large Aboriginal community there...Next town is Alice Springs, 520 km south and The Ketherine, some 690 km north. Population is about 6300. http://en.travelnt.com/advice/maps/katherine-to-tennant-creek.aspx Cheers, Bobj.
Guest Guruju
Hi Wiggly It is very remote and has about 10 aboriginal town camps surrounding it. Alcohol problems are rife as is domestic violence. Not sure of your experience of living in Oz but if you are coming from the UK for the first time to live then I believe that T. Creek will be a massive culture shock for you. It's about 1000Km south of Darwin and there are around 3,500 people live there. See NT news article re the grog ban to stop the violence Northern Territory News There is a social hub there and for some people it suits their personality and lifestyle but for many it is classed as a bit too frontier and hard. Best to visit it for yourself before committing to it. Cheers Julia
