Hello!!! Im new to PIO and I would be very grateful if anyone could help me please!! My family and I are hoping to move to Australia (things are slowly in process!), but as I am nearly 23, I cannot go through on my family's application. I work full-time but have been told it is better to apply as a student, which I think is great as I would love to study something I should of when I left school! I have been many times, close to leaving work to go to univeristy to study HE Diploma in Operating Department Practitioner....I am unsure as to what the equivalent is in Australia, and what entry requirements I need!! Please can anyone help?? Thank You if you can help!!:v_SPIN:

Hi Lianne

Have your family decided where in Australia they will be moving too ? If so you can contact the health service for that state and see what the requirements are, they may also point you in the direction of the correct courses. Good Luck with everything

Hi Lianne,

I agree with Cals advice but I also suggest you take a look at this document:

INTEGRATED (HR/IR) RESOURCE MANUAL Internship – Anaesthetic Technicians IRM 4.4-5

It sets out the standards needed to undertake an internship in anaesthesia in Queensland and although other states may have different standards it does give a basic guide to what level a Uk qualification would be assessed in Australia,

From my reading of the document it appears that there are several study streams that would lead to a qualification as an Anaesthetic Technician which it appears is the Australian title for a UK ODP.

Hope this helps.

Hi Cal,

we are hoping to move to the Gold Coast area, but not exactly sure yet! But thanks for the advice, I just needed a few starter points to get me going!

Thank you so much for the link Nigel In Oz! It was really interesting to read!

I think my next step will be to contact a few universites and get as much info as possible!

Thanks again! (Im sure I will be back with more questions!!)

Just a thought oh a nurse oh clinical nurse ,she works with a lot of grads ,the reason there is a shortage is we reckon they have to fund their own training as with uni courses in the uk apart from health

Hi Lianne,

Good evening I am Jeevithri Raman studied in Diploma in Higher of Education Operating Department Practitioner in School of KPJ International of Nursing in collaboration with Liverpool John Moore's University. Currently I am working at KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for nearly 3 years. I am eagerly looking for job in overseas. Can I know what are the procedures that we have to be done?. Thank You.
