Also we have a lot of people who want to come to Oz but may not have enough points. Here are a few vacancies that may help someone out there. We keep hearing back diff stories about work is there still lots of work in this area out there or are we being duped back here in ireland/uk and spending a lot of money for all that getting a skilled visa intail's an honest answer would go a long way at this stage. Firstly and most importantly unlike the UK the 2 page cv will probably give you little or no result no matter how good your experience may be in. This is possibly the biggest stumbling block for new migrants arriving in Australia. In order to get your CV up to the Australian standard I would recommend you make it long and detailed. If responsibilities, achievements and duties are not written clearly and backed up with supporting evidence it is assumed you do not have this experience at all. Although the length of an Australian CV depends on your individual experience, generally speaking Australian employers prefer resumes to be 3-4 pages long, and up to 6 pages for senior/management positions. Remember to tailor your cv to fit the job that you are applying for. If you are appling for an accounting role they are not usually interested that you were a nanny for 3 children years ago. However, if you feel that a previous position would benefit in the role then you are applying for then add this. Also try and make sure that your CV is aimed at the Australians, you may have worked for a super company but over here no one may have heard of them, so why not explain a little about the company and put a link to their website. Don't just put No 1 Make Up manufacturer in the UK. Also see if you can find out what level your qualifications would be at in the Australian Market, not all employers understand that an NVQ is equal to .......... in Australia.
