Guest Gollywobbler Posted February 19, 2009 Hi Chidge I do know several people who have switched from 175 visas to State Sponsored 176 visas right at the end of the processing period for the 175 when, for one reason or another, the main applicant has been found to be short of 5 points. The quick way out of the mess in that situation is State Sponsorship on a 176 visa instead. I don't know anyone - yet - who has done it successfully solely as a "tactical voting" measure in response to the Jan 2009 changes. There is no reason why it should not work. The glitch is that the State migration authorities are all taking time to process the sponsorship applications at State level because of the sudden demand.
