As for RAN news: Wrote to Terry George asking for news and he says he's still waiting to hear back from the catagory manager and medical assessment people - he's sent them both hurry up's. Been 6 weeks since they had Steve's medical stuff.

Will try to carry on patiently waiting

I just spoke to Dougie and he said its just a witing game, once they know they tell you right away. Like you we wanted Perth but didnt get it, Im glad now as we love Sydney so much, I know we would have loved perth as we had been there on holiday a few years b4 and we have family there. We had also bee to Sydney on our hols but that was a long time ago.

I have a few friends in Perth they have been there 8 months now and they love it and they all live where you want to go so im sure you will make friends very soon.

It can take a lot out of u sometimes but its all worth it in the end.

Just make the most of being in the uk, for now and enjoy it as much has u can.

You have got so much to look forward to when you get here.

If you need to know anything just ask, I know Lynette will have said the same to you.

xx

Hiya,

I noticed that Terry George's name above. Did any of you guys visit Oz before applying etc? We are coming over in Oct. Was wondering if you met up with him then as he seems to take a while to get back to us? We are visiting Perth and Sydney, hubby looking to transfer ASAP.

Thanks Sophie.

Hi sophie

We came out here on holiday twice, once the Sydney and once to Perth, I like both places for different reasons.

We wanted Perth when we applied for the navy the only reason being we had family in Perth. We ended up in Sydney and I love here so much, Im 5 mins from the beach, and its just beautiful.

We did not see Terry George when we came here and i dont know anyone that as but I may be wrong.

Has ur husband applied for the navy yet? It can take a while to sort everytthing out but its well worth the wait.

If there is anything U would like to know let us know and we will try and answer it for you.

Hi Anita and Dougie,

we are still in sunny Cornwall, not very sunny at the moment has been raining all week. Hope you are enjoying your new boat, Gav's got a boat down at sunny corner in Truro, loves going up the river, definately hoping to get a boat in oz, if we ever get there. Still in very early stages, got cv ready to send and navy medical booked, we will be in Perth as Gav is a submariner.

Hi there, we came over here nearly 2 years ago from Faslane. We are living in Port Kennedy, but Secret Harbour is a lovely area with some nice schools. Be prepared to be very hot when you come over. If you want any info about the area, just send me a message. I have 3 kids aged 12, 10, and 8 and they all love it here

Hi Jo, thanks for reply, we have been looking at Secret Harbour on the Internet, not the same, so lovely to get some imput from someone out there. We have two children aged 6 and 2, they will be nearly 8 and 4 if everything goes well, OH has got 18mths until time done. Has your OH spent much time away at sea, a bit worried about going out then being left alone with children straight away.

If your coming out in Jan make sure u bring loads of summer clothes, we arrived in the Jan and it was so hot. Its just starting warm up now and i so cant wait, its been a cold winter this year, they say there coldest in 36 years, still not like the uk though.

Dont forget if you need anything at all just ask.

The other thing look up the sutherland shires on the internet look for wanda beach and cronulla beaches its just beautiful here. Like I said b4 I knew an officer that was an Aussie working in the uk and he told us where to live.

Hope everything is going to plan, I know it can seem like forever but its worth the wait.
