Hi

We are quite new to all this. Have just been passed by the TRA so still have a long wait but just happy to get through that. We are using a company called Immigration Downunder who have an office both in Bristol and Perth WA. My dad recommended them as he uses their Perth office for all of his immigration business (has has just become a permanent resident). Lance Fee was who we were initially in contact with and then a super lady called Jan Friar. They have been with us every step of the way and emails are usually replied to either same day or next and they are at the end of the phone all the time, no waiting for call backs. When we were completing our TRA application we bombarded them with questions and they were absolutely brilliant. Their fee is not cheap. We have paid them £1800.00 but did it in two hits. Another lady that helped us with our application was an Erin Mountford who used to work for the TRA along with Lance so they knew exactly what was needed. Their address is The Executive Centre, Centre Gate, Colston Avenue, Bristol, BS1 4TR. Tel: 0117 3178146 or contact Jan Friar on jan@tig.net.au.

Hi All

Mick Breen may be excellent (I've no idea) but as far as I can tell he is not a MARA Registered Migration Agebt, Outside of Australia there is no need to be MARA registered.

I'm in the UK. I could set up as an un-qualified, un-registered and un-regulated "Migration Agent Extraodiinaire" tomorow. Nobody else could prevent me from doing so.

There is ZILCH chance of it happening, however, because my own conscience does not and would not permit it.

I do urge anybody considering using an un-registered Agent to be cautious, my friends. If you are in doubt, please ask Alan Collett, ptlabs, Welshtone or me in absolute confidence. None of us would breathe a word to anyone else but we WOULD all move to protect you if need be.

Cheers

Gill

This thread is from 2005 but we used overseas emigration and they have been fantastic.

They gave me totally inaccurate advice about my mother's situation, however. Their "advice" was just completely wrong technically.

TG I didn't listen to them and consulted DIAC directly instead. Mum's facts are a bit complex but this is what "experts" are supposed to be for, I suggest.

It ended up with my e-mailing the POPC, saying, "Oi! You lot are contradicting yourselves. On Page Such & Such, our half-sister appears to scupper Mum, However, Half-sister is irrelevant according to Page Something Else. This is a direct contradiction in terms and I want the "official answer" to it, please. If I don't like or don't trust your answer, I will instruct specialist solicitors in Australia to investigate this in more detail with a view to requesting a Declaration from the Court because you CANNOT have this one both ways!"

I was told that it was "an apparent contradiction." It was nothing of the sort. It was an absolute contradiction. In one bit of the website they stated the Law accurately. In another bit, they stated it wrongly. There is nothing vague or "apparent" about that. They have since sorted it out so that the website now makes sense but it did not at the time.

Personally I think that the only way to deal with any civil servant in any jurisdiction is to grab them firmly by the ears - physically so if need be!

Cheers

I know of many people who have used their services and all of who have their visas some of who are on this site. Even those with complex cases.

One of the agents you reccommend i know has given out duff info to peple regarding their case before and they are now successfully settled in Aus so I guess they have all done it at some stage.

I have even seen some of those agents say things like I stand corrected after giving out misleading information on forums like these.

Pro's and Cons of using an agent i'm afraid. One bad piece of advice from one agent does not equal a bad company if that were the case there would be no agents.
