Guest thethreemacs Posted November 20, 2008 Hi Guys Been here 11 months now and love it:jiggy:, however have friends who have just had a bereavement and had to fly back to UK for the funeral:sad:.. My mum mentioned (practical as she is lol) that you can get insurance for this type of thing to help you with your flight costs. Does anyone know who does it? I have been looking on the net but cant seem to find it. I put in death or bereavement it brings up life insurance put that with flights and it just brings up travel insurance Thanking you in advance for any assistance. Guest Tim Posted November 20, 2008 I think you can with travel insurance - for instance if you are away overseas on holiday and need to return because of an emergency. I wouldn't know about insurance when you have permanently moved though. We had the same issue last year when Bobbie (the better half) mum passed away last year and we had to fly back to London quickly. The airlines were great when we had to tell them it was an emergency and the flight prices were not too bad for less than 6hrs notice. Tim
Guest Gollywobbler Posted November 20, 2008 Hi Rach, Hi Tim Kinsure is the specialist insurance provider in this field: Kinsure They are the company we use. They've been around for a long time. I don't know whether there are any others like them. Best wishes Gill

What a great idea, I was only talking about this today with my work colleagues. It's the one thing that worries me...not being able to get back to the UK should the worst happen. Thanks for the link I will investigate further. Be interesting to know if anyone has claimed on this kind of policy and how easy it is. Edited to say am on daughters log-in, it's Fiona1975! Lets hope its a policy you dont have to cash in in a hurry. Cheers for that, I will look into that myself. Ang x

Guest nfowley Posted November 24, 2008 Hi, sorry to hear of your loss. I don't know much about the type of insurance you are talking about. However I do know that when my parents were over visiting me when I was travelling in Oz my gran died (It was in Jan so a busy time for flights to be fair) but they had such a terrible time with their insurance company, they required so much documentation and proof and there were so many phone calls etc..it was very stressful as all they wanted to do was go home. In the end they just got their own flight home as they had waited as standby for flights and not got anything. If they did get a flight then they were going to have to pay it up front and then claim the money back and it wasn;t guaranteed you would get it back. It just made me think that the whole insurance thing was such a con. I would defo look into it well before commiting to anything!! Good luck!
