Is visa 175 classed as a perminent visa?

We were going to take out medical insurance as we thought we were not entittled toMedicare over in Oz. When looking at Medicares website it says peminent residents are, we are now unsure if a 175 visa, which is indefinate would mean we are entitled to it. Is there anyone on a 175 visa who has got Medicare?

Thanks, Kelly

Hi Kelly

Yes a 175 is a permanent visa and therefore you are entitled to medicare from your arrival in Australia (once the visa is granted). You need to attend a Medicare Office with your passports (containing your visa labels) and they will issue you with Medicare cards.

kind regards
