sandramcd
Hi Sheena, can I be next on your list?! My lot are 10, 8, 6 and 4. Thanks too, MinLady, good advice there. I am often a bit anal about having them all in the same place, but I guess it's more important that they are in the right place for them rather than the same place. Guest crystalrose
hiya, i will pm you! sheena :wubclub: Hi Sheena I know you must be sick of all these requests for PM's but if you have a mo would you mind PM me. I did not really give this a thought we are moving to Perth at the end of December. I have three children 11, 8 and 7 the two older girls are on the Gifted and Talented Register at school and are pretty bright. I really do not have the money to educate them privately as it is we will be living on the bread line when we arrive in OZ, I am wondering if I am doing the right thing by them taking them, I would really hate for any of them to be bullied and have a dreadful time at school they currently enjoy school here.:wideeyed:

monkeymandness
Hi Sheena, have you ever felt so popular?! Could I trouble you for a pm too? I have 2 boys ages 1 and 4....my 4 year old has taken some time to make friends and settle into school here. My biggest worry about moving to Oz is how he will cope with the change, especially with regards school.........Have lost sleep thinking this one over and over. Would hate to think we could potentially be about to make his life a lot tougher. Children have enough to think about these days as it is in my opinion, without having to worry about being bullied at school. Am very interested to hear about your experiences, or anyone elses. Many thanks Amanda x

Guest The Davidsons
|Not a criticism but... Is there a reason why these comments need to be PM'd? They are after all only an opinion? Can we just use the word allegedly to bypass any legality issues? After all, its in all our interests to hear what may go on......... Please share the info
Guest Angelcake
I'm a bit worried now, I have a 5 yr old boy who has started school here already but will start school in Brisbane at the end of Jan. He took a while to settle in as he's quite sensitive so I'm concerned about school in Aus. I also have 2.5yr old twins, Im not worried about them so much as they work as a team, if someone takes on one of them, the other twin is straight in there!! Sheena could you pm me too or if possible (not sure if its too sensitive) post on here. Many thanks Angelcake
Guest chocolatey
HI there Guys, I am new to this website and im trying to get as much information as possible from British and Australian people who are living in Brisbane.I and my husband are currently in the process of taking a massive big huge decision in our lives and selling up here in england to coming to Oz. But there is so many Things that U need to know and finding this website is probably a good way of getting a lot of information. Whats Richlands like? or can you recommend some places so we can look into it.Im looking at information in all areas,Schooling,Nurserys,Rented Accomadation.Cost of monthly rent with houses approx. What age do they start school is nursery available.I realised there is so much here, but as much information would be great.Look forward to hearing from you soon Claire x:spinny:

Guest Hello Kitty
I don't know the content of this mysterious PM but I am wondering why people assume that Sheena has some inside information on bullying in Australia. One persons experiences at one school does not reflect on the whole country. I can speak for my kids in that in their school any bullying type issues are immediately dealt with. Some of the girls in my daughters grade 5 class were being typical pre-teen girls and excluding etc. The principal has been into their classroom every week to have discussions with them in a group situation, talking about friendship, including others etc. There is a strict bullying code of conduct in Victorian schools. I don't know about other states though. We have quite a few kids from the UK/Europe at our school and to my knowledge they have all settled in well and there have been no issues. Of course bullying goes on in some schools in Aust. as it does in any country in the world. What is comes down to is how it is dealt with by the school, teacher and the principal. This may vary from school to school. From talking to parents of other schools in our area schools have very strict guidlelines on how to deal with bullies and any problems were soon sorted out. We had a set of twins from the UK join my daughters class and they were welcomed by all the kids in the class and the kids went out of their way to show them around and befriend them. When they first arrived they were introverted and quiet and now they are full of confidence and have come along leaps and bounds. Their parents are thrilled. ali
We're in WA and my children are in state school. I can only speak from our own experience. My children settled very quickly although they were 7 and 11 when we arrived. The school had set my eldest up with a pen pal before she arrived and by the time she got here she felt as if she knew some of her classmates although she'd never met. She's always enjoyed school and has almost completed her first year at high school which she has also enjoyed. My son has always been indifferent to school - never had a problem getting him there but he didn't enjoy it - here he's the first dressed every morning, complains when it's going to be holidays and generally loves the school. There seems to be a good balance for him of having fun and work. He's done very well in his recent tests, but equally enjoys the socialisation opportunities.
