Hi all

New member, be gentle!

Been thinking about finally fulfulling my Antipodean dream for a while now, I need to seriously do my research on everything OZ beforehand.

Obviously I'm aware of all the online advice, australia & new zealand magazine etc....but I was wondering if anybody knew about the various exhibiton as getting all the information under one roof and talking to experts really appeal to me.

Does anybody know which shows their are in the UK and which are best.

Help greatly appreciated

Thanks

hiya ack ,welcome to poms in oz ,,we were all in the same position when starting the visa process so feel free to post any questions or concerns you have on here and someone will try to help.

In relation to the expo's ,,some say they are great ,some say they are a waste of a time ,if id known about them when i was in the Uk i probably would have gone along for a nosey ,what have you to lose?

Good luck with everything

Thanks Cal

I'm swimming in the dark a bit at the moment so something like an expo giving me a real idea of how to go about it but also what to expect would be perfect. I'm sure some are hit & miss though.

I know a few people who travelled over to one in Ireland recently but it wasn't great, and I went to Toast but that was more of a festival for Antipodeans. Hopefully something will come up in London in the next few months!?

Hi

Another Newbie here, UK based now but originally from Hobart!

I worked for a well known Aussie bank specialising in migrant banking for a few years and did a few of the expo's. They can be really useful as you get to speak to alot of experts from different companies "all under one roof" as you say.

I do know that Aus & new zealand magazine are launching a show soon, don't have anymore details though & would need to dig out my back issues.

They can be good for overall general information, less useful if you need something specific or are definetly looking for a job. We went to one of the ones at www.expo-australia.com which was fairly usefu especially for banking / pensions / money transfer / shipping information etc as well as state sponsorship info. Also some agencies and a few employers if you are in the right field.

There are 2 coming up with these people one in Leeds next weekent (18th ) and one in London the week after.

Otherwise the Auzzie government run them as well and you cna find info on their web site but these only have states and jobs, not the other general info.

Hiya,

Im going to the Expo in London in 2 weeks time, ive heard mixed reviews, but I think, what the heck, its a day out, a chance to meet different suppliers from removal firms to migration agents (im assuming) , pick up leaflets etc..

Ive also booked my tickets to 'Down Under Live' for March 09 (you get free 3 month subscribtion to Australia&New Zealand Magazine for pre booking tickets now)

Thanks, that show looks great!

I can’t take advantage of the subscription offer because I’m already subscribed but I’ve bought a couple of tickets and a day out in London sounds good to me.

The price is excellent as well considering I paid £30 for one day at Toast, which was disappointing

I hope DownUnderLive is a good show, anybody else on here looking at attending??

It does look a good day out, doesnt it....The Expo looks more business orientated, where as the Down Under show looks like great fun :jiggy:

Just to let people know, the subscription doesnt start until Feb 09 (anyone that is thinking of taking advantage of it)
