Ielts?

Hi all. I'm a staff nurse in the UK hoping to come over on a 175/176PR with my defacto partner. Can anyone tell me if he would need to do the IELTS test please?

Hi Amy

 

You only need to do the IELTS test if you are short on points or not a UK national.

 

Most do it to get the extra 10 points that they may need (I did) to enable them to meet the visa pass mark.

Thanks Howard, we are both british nationals and I THINK my qualification and job give us enough points, so hopefully thats one less thing to take into consideration

He certainyl shouldn't need to do it as him taking it won't give you any extra points at all.

 

He will need to prove sufficient English language ability though but this will be provable with a copy of his UK passport. If he's not a UK national there may be more work to do to prove english language ability.
