Guest emma cant wait to go! Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Hello all! I know i've read on here in the past the details of some great furniture companies who do packages, ie, x items for $2000 etc, now we are in Melbourne we need some cheap bits, ie beds and things until our container arrives. We get the keys to our new house on Thursday, and really appreciate any suggestions! Many thanks Emma x
Guest tess Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 hi just thought id bump your thread as any information you get could help me as i will also need cheap bits and bobs until shipping comes in tess xx
calNgary Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 The main one for packages here is www.fantasticfurniture.com there is also super A mart and Ikea, hope this helps a bit Cal x
kernow43 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Ikea is good. Fantastic furniture so so! and Super A Mart won't last, ask a few people who have bought it and it lasted. My son bought a leather lounge 4 years ago it is now down the tip, very poor leather. A Mart survives on the uneducated in my opinon.
Guest The Pom Queen Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Emma - You have Fantastic Furniture and Sydney Furniture Sydney's Home Page - Nice One Sydney's... both have stores all around Melbourne. Not sure how far away from Dandenong you are, but if you drive down Dandenong Frankston Road their are around 40 if not more furniture stores, including Fantastic Furniture.
Guest emma cant wait to go! Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Hello all, thankyou for your replies! And yes we found the Dandenong Frankston rd, it only took us all day lol, to get round all of the stores, comparing prices etc! Managed to get some great deals, and yes I agree that the cheapies are very cheap and you can tell it's not going to last, and also some of the stores are fabulous with some really gorgeous, but really pricey pieces! Also got some great deals on appliances from Goodguys who will reduce prices for cash, and then we paid with British debit card and got the bonus of a brilliant exchange rate currently! All in all success was had, and thankyou to all of your replies and advice! Emma x
Guest The Pom Queen Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Glad you had a good day out shopping. I love shopping for the home. It's not just Good Guys who will reduce the price you need to ask at all the furniture/electrical shops you go in. I bought a couple of things from Dick Smiths and ended up with $400 knocked off, not quite the best deal we have that was when we got all our bedroom furniture from 40 winks when we first arrived we got a total of $1000 knocked off. Hubby walks out of the store as he hates me haggling but he doesn't complain when I am saving the money so he can buy his gadgets lol:)
