Please help !! I have 2 children who are age 3 (nearly 4 ) and 2. Hopefully we will be going to Perth ( if paperwork goes through ok ) in about a year.

My eldest had his MMR jabs separately and is about to have booster jabs done. My daughter has had course done but wont get to have boosters done before we come over.

My first question is can we get seperate jabs done in Oz ? I know we have to pay.

Also Ive come across discussions on Hep B as well. Do the kids have to have Hep B and chicken pox too ? If so at what age is this done ?

I want to get them vaccinated and chose seperate jabs for personal family history reasons but am now worried I will have probs getting daughter into kindergarten etc without booster jabs !

I have two girls aged 2 1/2 and 7 months and I've been wondering about vaccinations too. Our eldest has had all of the usual baby ones, up to the MMR when she was 13 months old. Our youngest has had the baby ones, but isn't due to have the first MMR until about March, when we'll have already moved to Oz. I presume it is just a case of taking her to the health clinic to have them done. I think that Aussie kids have Chickenpox and HepB vaccinations as a matter of course, so I am going to try and get them done over here before we go (because it is just one less thing to do when we get there, I guess we'll have to pay for them wherever), but I don't think that it is compulsory to have them. Not entirely sure to be honest. Will do more research and post anything I find!

I think there is no harm in checking with your surgery's practice nurse.

My 2 year old had her Hep B and BCG done under the NHS, because we are Singaporeans, and she has been on a few holidays to Singapore.

BCG can be routinely given in the NHS on offer for those from countries at high risk of TB (singapore is considered one of them), and the practice nurse gave her the Hep B ones as part of travel vaccination (it is spread out over 6 mths - so make sure you factor that in)

We paid for her to get the chickenpox vaccine to be done privately when we were on holdiay in Singapore - more because she had quite bad eczema when younger, kids in nursery were coming down with chickenpox and I didn't want her to needless suffer with more scratching if she came down with that.

Although many child care type centres prefer your children to be vaccinated it is not compulsory, some will require proof of vaccinactions though ( i got a letter from my GP and bought my daughters 'red book').

Thanks everyone. I have been speaking today with a nurse at the private hospital where I got my kids their separate MMR jabs in London. She has said any outstanding jabs when we go ie mumps booster can be flown out from London to Oz ! I just need to find a GP in Perth willing to receive vaccine and administer it. Obviously this all comes at a cost but Im relieved now I know there is a solution !

Would have been a lot easier if our government would give us a choice on NHS between MMR and separate jabs ( but thats another discussion !!)

Hi everyone

I am new to this site and looking for anyone who has had same problem.

I have 2 kids 5 and 9. i am married to the 5 year olds dad, we have applied for out visas and now have the problem of getting leave of court for my nine year old. There is no way her dad will give me permission to take her and she is saying she would miss her nan too much. However we know its the best thing for us as a family to go. We have seeked legal advise and were told it depends on the cafcass. Her dad is ment to see her every other weekend but just drops her off to his mum and does his own thing. Has anyone else had this problem? She is saying she would live with him if we went.
