Hi All,

Not been on for a while, hope everyone is happy & well.

We went to Perth on our reccie & validation trip to Perth in July and despite the 3 weeks torrential rain we loved every minute of it!

Fell in love with the Hills area and think we will look in that direction first once we arrive for good.

Came back to the UK all eager to get the house on the market and get the hell outta here but walked back into the house to discover that a pipe had burst in the kitchen and it was completely flooded!

Suffice to say this has put our plans on hold – the insurance company have been useless and despite it being 8 weeks on we STILL have no kitchen floor and therefore we can’t market the place. Its just so frustrating as we all just want to be in Perth now.

The housing market had nose-dived here and the economy is dire. The building trade has almost come to a halt and in turn this means that Ashley has hardly any work, which is a worry, to say the least! We’re just still clinging to the hope that our house will be ‘the one’ for someone quite quickly so that we can cut our ties and run!

Apart from that, we are all healthy and thats all that really matters at the end of the day

Love to all

Karen xx

Hi Julie,

One thing has to be said for having relatives/friends in the place you are emigrating to, they were invaluable in helping answer all of our zillion+ questions!!

Basically we were completely assured that Ash will have no trouble getting electrician work - they really are desperate out there for his trade as well as many others. Thankfully he has decided to start off in this trade again (he was thinking of doing something completely different over there with no other qualifications, which was a worry!!) and then he will look to change his career by side lining into project management or something like that at a later date.

Are you off for good in November or just for a reccie?

We had always been adamant that we would not go for a reccie when we first decided to emigrate as we wanted to save the expense but then we were forced into having to go or lose the visas. I am SO glad that we went! It was really useful being able to check out suburbs, work, etc etc and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone that they to visit before hand if they can. Also being able to check out suburbs before making the final move now means that we can target the areas we really liked and not waste time on the ones we found weren't for us during our visit. This will be one less pressure to contend with during what I know will be a very hectic time both physically and emotionally for us all.

Take care

Karen x
