Hi again,

No im not being put off, dont worry about that, ive read a fair share of good & bad points, I think that you find them everywhere.

However I must say that you have only been there 2 months & im glad your thinking twice about coming back to the Uk & thinking of trying somewhere else in Australia, its such a big place after all. I think it will take you time to build up a network of friends & you should defo give that more time, as you have young children you should defo use them to your advantage & try & meet other parents, at parks etc. Just as you would if you moved to a totally new area in the Uk.

If the heat is one of the main reasons then Queensland is probably not the right place for you.

We are hoping to get over in the next year-two.

I wish you & your family the best of luck

Kelly

Sorry to hear you havnt settled, as Kelly said its only been a short time and if you can try to get involved with other mothers maybe at school, playgroups etc I remember feeling the same when we arrived so I joined the tuck shop rosta at my daughters school which enabled me to meet other mums in the local area. Hope all goes well for you where ever you decide to settle

Can't really advise on Adelaide as I have only spent a day there.

I have read a few people say that it's been hard making friends with Aussies.

I've lived in Melbourne for around 10 years and can honestly say being English has never been an issue at all socially or at work.

Almost all my friends (and girlfriends) are/have been Aussies.

You've only been here a couple of months, it can take a little while to settle in, so don't get discouraged. This is a great country to live in.

I moved to Brisbane from Victoria in January and I found the heat hard to deal with and it was hard to make friends so I have just moved back to Victoria.

Its good that you are going to try somewhere different as every state in Oz has a different feel to it.

So Adelaide may suit you more as you get summer evenings and nice hot summers but also 4 seasons to a year.

All the best:smile:
