Hi Guys,

Does anyone know how you go about booking an internal flight from quarenteen in Sydney to go to Brisbane airport? Also roughly how much it costs. We will be in the Gold Coast so it is a good long drive to pick up the beloved pooch.

Thought that if it is quite reasonable it would be easier to fly her, but i am betting its going to be a small fortune.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Alison,

We had the same problem, got loads of quotes some were ridiculous wanting over a $1,000.

We used Jet Pets we paid approx $350 but that included having her delivered right to our door.

Make sure you tell them you have your own box at Sydney.

Hope that helps

Hi

We used Dogtainers (it was 5 years ago though) but they are still trading. It cost us at the time $500 which was for 2 german shepherds and two cats. They came in the boxes that they originally travelled over in. We had them delivered from Brisbane Airport to our home too.

Dogtainers - Special Animals - Special Transport

They may be worth contacting, we had an excellent service from them and the animals arrived in an air-conditioned truck

kind regards

Yep, another fan of JetPets. Our two Labs arrived on Friday from Sydney, we paid just under $350 to fly them to Brisbane Airport and collected them ourselves. The flight only takes an hour and a half whereas it would cost you the same and take about a day to drive to Sydney and back according to Google Maps. As it's air freight the cost is dependant on total weight. Our two plus their containers weighed 70kgs, so that should give you a bit of an idea whether you are likely to pay more or less than we did. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for all your replies.

That's great news! I'll give Airpets and dogtainers a try and get quotes from both, she's only a little Bichon Friese and only weighs 15kg so i'm hoping it will be quite reasonable, to get her delivered to your door is great. I was expecting it to be a rip off to be honest but i'm hoping to be proved wrong.

many thanks to you all for taking the time!!
