Additionally, the ASCO code on the following page needs to be addressed for the DIAC stage of the process, so please ensure you cover all requirements in your references where possible, so the references will be suitable for both stages of the migration process. VETASSESS TRADE COMPETENCIES OVERVIEW The following is a breakdown of the 8 Plumber Competency groups: Competency Group 1: Trenching, concreting and levelling Be able to prepare, plan, level and concrete a simple concrete form · Install trench support · Carry out concreting to simple forms · Carry out levelling Competency Group 2: Water Systems Be able to install and commission various domestic water supply, treatment and heating systems · Set out and install water services · Install and adjust system controls and devices · Install and commission water heating systems · Install domestic water treatment equipment · Install water pump sets · Fit off and commission hot and cold water systems Competency Group 3: Domestic water treatment, drainage and disposal systems Be able to plan, install and service domestic water treatment, drainage and disposal systems · Locate and clear blockages · Install domestic treatment plants · Install stormwater and sub-soil drainage system · Plan the layout for a residential drainage system · Install below ground sanitary drainage systems · Install on-site disposal systems · Drain worksite · Install pre-fabricated inspection openings and enclosures · Install water service · Flash penetrations through walls and roofs Competency Group 4: Sanitary systems Be able to plan, install and commission a domestic sanitary system · Cut and join sheetmetal · Plan the layout for a residential sanitary plumbing system · Install discharge pipes · Fabricate and install sewerage and waste stacks · Install and fit off sanitary fixtures · Install pre-treatment facilities Competency Group 5: Irrigation and sprinkler systems Be able to fabricate, connect and install irrigation, fire and safety sprinkler systems · Connect irrigation systems from drinking water plumbing · Fabricate and install fire hydrant and hose reel · Install domestic and residential life safety sprinkler systems Competency Group 6: Electric and gas welding Be able to bond materials using fusion, Electric arc and gas welding · Weld polyethylene (PE) pipes using fusion method · Weld using oxy-acetylene equipment · Weld using arc welding equipment Applicants will be asked to select from Competency groups7a or 7b Competency Group 7a: Roofing fabrication and installation Perform roofing fabrication and installation services and operations · Fabricate and install roof drainage components · Cut with oxy-LPG acetylene · Select and install roof sheeting and wall cladding · Collect and store roof water · Receive roofing materials · Fabricate and install external flashings · Install roof components · Install roof coverings for curved roof structures · Install composite roof systems · Cut and join sheetmetal Competency Group 7b: Gas services and operations Able to perform gas services and operations · Install gas piping system · Size consumer gas piping · Install and commission Type A gas appliances · Install LP gas cylinders of aggregate storage capacity up to 500 litres · Install LP gas systems in caravans/ mobile homes, watercraft and mobile work places · Install gas detection devices · Install gas pressure control equipment · Install a Type A appliance flue · Purge consumer piping · Calculate and install natural ventilation for Type A appliances · Disconnect and reconnect Type A appliances ASCO CODE General Plumber 4431-11 Installs and repairs water, drainage, gas and sewerage pipes and systems. Tasks Include: · sets and installs hot and cold water systems and associated equipment · installs fire hydrants and hose reel systems · designs sanitary plumbing and water supply systems including residential sprinkler systems · installs discharge pipes and sanitary fixtures · fabricates and installs soil and waste sacks · installs sewerage and effluent pumping equipment and disposal systems · installs below-ground drainage systems and associated ground support systems · assembles and installs mechanical services machinery, air handling and conditioning equipment and small bore heating systems · fabricates and installs rainwater goods and flashings · may install roof and wall cladding · may install and maintain approved domestic and commercial appliances and ancillary equipment Specialisations: Fire services Plumber Sanitary Plumber Water Plumber
