Spouse Visa Update: Bexta

OK so following on from my very tearful last thread about the fact that our CO wanted to deny our De Facto visa... here is an update for anyone who is wondering what happened next.

I took Gill's advice and sent a nice, but firm email to our CO asking all about our options and to see the section of the policy manual they think we don't comply with and can we have a second opinion and what are our appeal rights etc etc. She write back in her machine-like tone basically copy and pasted from the website but with manual speak in front of it (eg Section 2(a), (b) blah blah) so that didn't help us much.

I then went and collated all the 'compassionate and compelling' reasons i could as to why they should grant us the visa. I basically listed about 8 quite convincing points as to this that and the other. To long to go into here but they were about why I had to stay in Oz for 3 months when OH came out here and how we had proved we were still each others De Facto even tho we were in different countries. I even went to the length of mentioning the fact that my maternal grandad has Alzheimers and every month I am away from Oz means another month he has chance to forget me. Though we are hoping this is not the case!

We heard not mich from her after that. So I then emailed again under the pretence of 'just checking my email wasn't lost in cyberspace' and then we got an email not long after that... requesting meds!!! :jiggy:Hurrah! So we took that as a great sign as we figured if she still wanted to deny the visa she wouldn't ask us to pay for meds etc first... right?

We had actually front loaded meds, but we followed up with the docs and they said there had been some delays getting the reports to Oz House so we told our CO this and sent her the tracking number of the meds that were sent the next day.

Anyway, this week we had yet another email asking for yet another interview. OH called straight away and this time spoke to a different person as our CO has this week off. The new CO was an Aussie and totally nice to OH- just like we were expecting the first time around! She just asked the basic questions about where we met, why he wants to go to oz etc etc. Then she saids she doesn't see anything that would delay the processing of our Visa... pretty much an unofficial approval!!!

So we've been waiting and waiting to hear about the final part, we think that it probably won't be until our original CO comes back next week. However when OH got home today he said there was a note saying that a recorded delivery had tried to be dropped at our house but no one was home to sign for it!!! DO YOU THINK THIS COULD BE IT!!?? Oh gosh I hope so... we can't think what else would come recorded delivery... please please please... we're going to the PO first thing tomorrow!

Keep your fingers crossed for us!!
