Guest Rickard Family
We want to move to the Gold Coast. The only jobs i have seen for carpentry are shuttering and roofing and for joinery are sheet material flat pack workshops. I am interested in conservation work, traditional windows, doors, staircases, etc. Our there any such jobs. Please help me! Guest Working to fish
Hi Clinton I've tried to pm you twice now, without success. Here's my view on the joinery jobs in Queensland. When we first arrived here in oz i was well disappointed, every job i applied for was for cabinet makers but turned out to be white box makers. All i can tell you is that if you check out the newspapers in oz for jobs there is an abundance of work for cabinet makers and joiners. Now, sorry to sound rude to anybody, but in my view, a white box maker is not a cabinet maker or joiner. Don't be too disheartened Clinton, there are proper joinery jobs out there. I am now working for a firm making top end joinery and furniture ,it took a while to find this job ,but there are firms here looking for us that can work with soild timber . If you are going to the gold coast i am sure there will be firms there . eddie

Clinton. I would personally go to the yellow/white pages on line ,find every company you can who do some form of furniture /wood manufactor write down their details,e-mail them saying when your coming and what you are looking for and when you get here go around them all AGAIN in person. We got very little response when in the uk but on approaching the same companys in person when we 'actually lived' here hubby ended up with a few job offers and was able to choose. Eddie is top notch in what he does and can make fantastic pieces of furniture, as he said the job he does now took some finding ,if you show the determination he has ,you will make it eventually ,just dont be put off at the first couple of fallen hurdles. Good luck Cal x
