burred Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Unfortunately it looks like insureyourmove doesn't have an active website anymore. I used them when moving UK - Australia a few years ago, and now want total loss insurance when heading back. This worked out to be ~1% of contents value, which is still quite high if you ask me! From memory others like Letton Percival also insure damage (with restrictions) at a higher price, which is why I didn't use them. Any suggestions? Quote
burred Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 No one with any advice? I have about a week to get insurance and I'm freaking out! Quote
Amber Snowball Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I just insured via movecube for total loss, so if the container fell off the ship basically. The small print on claiming for breakages etc means it’s hard to claim, so unless you are moving antiques I wouldn’t bother. That may not help you! 1 Quote
Cheery Thistle Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Nope sorry we used Letton Percival. Does google not yield any results? 1 Quote
Ausvisitor Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I would think you would struggle to get total loss insurance for 1% of contents nowadays If you've got $50,000 of stuff and you pay 1% that's only $500 the risk return for the insurer is massive there. All it takes is for them to damage one dining table and they will be out of pocket Quote
rammygirl Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Total loss doesn’t pay for damage to items. Just a total loss. Container fire or overboard for example. 1 Quote

burred Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Thanks for the input! Letton Percival got back with a quote of 2.5% (plus £30 insurance premium tax). This also covers damage, with an excess of £500. I would much prefer total loss if anyone knows any other companies. Otherwise I'll compare the cost of Seven Seas insurance vs Letton Percival. Quote
Cheery Thistle Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I think you might be looking for a unicorn - but let us know if you find one! Quote
