Hi there,

I’ve lodged an application for the 190 visa in South Australia. It would be my intention to migrate as a primary school teacher. At the moment I am registering as a teacher and they have fully accepted my qualifications and experience.

I’m just wondering if anyone in this forum is already teaching in a primary school in Australia and could share their experiences and explain how Australia primary teaching differs from teaching in an average Uk School? I accept it won’t be a ‘one size fits all’ but broadly speaking what are the opinions out there on some of the following:

1 workload

2 class sizes

3 funding and resources in Australian schools

4 behaviour

5 professional development

6 perception of the profession in Australia

7 curriculum/timetable/school day.

Any insights on any or all of the above would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kieran

Every state is different so you need a teacher from SA to respond really. In WA everything compared to what I experienced is favourable, but I am sure some won't agree!

Hopefully this bumps your post a little!
