Ausvisitor 771 Posted February 10 I will have been non resident for the whole of the 2022/23 UK tax year. How do I let HMRc know not to expect a tax return this year? Thanks

Thanks The residency section you completed of your 2021/22 UK tax return ought to have told them that - but if they still send you a tax return to complete then you still need to complete it (even if the only part for you to complete is the residency section). Note that if you're one of those people who didn't have to complete a tax return every year (and so didn't lodge a 2021/22 UK tax return) then the Form P85 that you completed when you left the UK will have told them. 1 Chartered Accountant (England & Wales); Registered Tax Agent & Fellow of The Tax Institute (Australia) www.kbfayers.com

Alan Collett 3,409 Posted February 17 If you receive a request to file a 2023 UK tax return from HMRC feel able to ping a private message to me. I'll then send a phone number for HMRC to you, which you can call to ask that your self assessment file is closed.
