Police Officer wanting to emigrate to aus

Hey

Does anyone have any advice or information on how a UK Police officer can migrate to Australia (Preferably East of Aus)? Our dear friends want to emigrate. One is a Police officer (43 yrs old) in the UK with almost 14 years of experience, and the other (47 yrs old) has almost 20 years of working in OOHC/Residential Care for children. 

As one has passed the 45 years cap, the next best option is the 43-year-old Police officer. I was wondering if anyone has heard of a Police officer having success with applying under the ANZCO Welfare Support group or any other category, given the fact Police do not come under skills in demand.

In WA there's a massive advertising campaign as officers leave in their droves. Don't believe the rhetoric of they're all leaving to work on the mines this it would seem is incorrect and inaccurate... WAPOL will of course support the applications with visas, but I don't think there is a relocation package like the Armed Forces.

In most states you can't work as a sworn officer in the Australian police forces until you are a citizen so this would mean the OP would have to drop into a civilian role (although looks like an exemption for WA at the moment). These citizen roles are rarely "in demand" because so many people who already have work rights are desperate for them for the public sector pay perks

Queensland, like WA, will take you with PR, but doesn't sponsor, so you have to get a visa some other way, then apply along with all the locals.

Not sure about other States. Australian Federal Police is definitely citizens only.

As has been related in an earlier post, the rank and file quitting in droves in WA. Complaints about bullying and poor management among other things .Hence the drag net has been cast far and wide in order to entice recruitment.

I've just checked both NSW and Vic accept PR holders, so probably the same Australia wide.

The state police forces only require PR. The ACT/National Police service (AFP) require citizenship. Strictly, that's what happens for all public servants but there is a little jiggle room with the APS occasionally.
