Koala Bear
Hi all, Im asking on behalf of a relative. Relative and family has PR, lived in Australia for just under two years, before returning to the UK. The travel validity has expired. They wish to come out for a holiday, not to move back at this time, but potentially in the future. The concern is if they apply for a RRV, they may only be granted one year, and they won’t be able to move back within that 12 month period. If they apply for a visitor visa, will this in essence cancel out the chance of a RRV (I am aware the RRV isn’t a given, but they have substantial ties over here). Many thanks
Ausvisitor
If they have substantial ties then they would probably get the 12 month RRV. If those ties are still substantial in a couple of years time they may also get an RRV then when needed

Many thanks … had PR … it has now expired. If they apply for, and are granted, an RRV then the most they will get is one year validity. A visitor visa won’t “cancel out” future RRV eligibility, but can, in some circumstances, make things more complicated.
Koala Bear
Thanks for your reply both it was a typo, I realise PR no longer valid. They will apply for the visitor visa at this time, due the cost of the RRV when no chance of using it at this time, they will have to re visit if decide to come out in the future. mamy thanks
