Pipefitter - Australian Equivalent

Hi,

We are in the very early stages of looking to emigrate to Australia and was looking for some advice from anyone that has maybe gone through the same situation.

I am a time served Pipefitter here in the UK with 15 years experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical industries and fabrication workshops. I've been looking into the equivalent Australian qualification for my trade then that's where things become a bit unclear. I spoke to an agent who said I would fall under the Certificate III Fitter (General) RPL qualification, however when I looked into the contents of the assessment it sounded as if it would be more appropriate for a Mechanical Fitter / Mechanic. I also looked at a Certificate III Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking) RPL qualification and to an extent it seemed more appropriate based on my background, with the exception of welding, as throughout these industries that I have worked in has been solely a Welder's job.

There also seems to be quite a demand for Pipefitter's (especially in WA), however the job listings look for an Australian trade certificate but don't elaborate on what that is.

Just want to make sure I can pick the correct assessment so I don't get caught out when it comes round to doing it.

Any advice would be appreciated, cheers.

They will be boilermakers/pipe fitters, trade certificate is something like MEM3xxxx.

All over Australia is crying out for anyone with a trade TBH. I'm in WA but am leaving for Queensland (I'm a plater by trade but boilermaker here)
