Where near Newcastle

Hi all, 

Is there anywhere 45 mins away max travelling time away from Newcastle that we could buy for 700-750k? Not too far from the beach, family friendly, good community feel too. 3 bed house minimum. 

Would sacrifice the beach for country if we could have a bit of land and good community, as long as my hubby could drive to work and there are decent public schools.

I'd have thought you'd have no trouble getting a nice 3/4 bed house within the commuting distance.  Have Newcastle prices increased that much?

I would be very tempted to live up at Port Stephens - gorgeous big bay with dolphins playing, plus fresh oysters -  but that's more like an hour's commute, so probably too far.  

I'd say Lake Macquarie would fit the bill.

They have gone up like the rest , no cheap places now . unless you want to live in a less desirable area. 
Traffic has increased as well meaning 45 min travel now pulls you closer to the city unfortunately.
