leadtojrs Posted November 1, 2021 Share Posted November 1, 2021 Hi guys, currently I am an Indian citizen and I will be eligible to apply for Australian citizenship in July 2022. However, my passport is expiring in May 2022 so I am wondering if I can: Legally live in Australia on an expired passport Apply for citizenship on an expired passport I have no intention of traveling for the next 2 years and I see no situation where I might need a valid passport. I already have a VicRoads license. The reason why I am asking is India doesn't allow dual citizenship so upon grant I will have to surrender it anyway so if I don't have to renew I will be able to save ~$300 + agent fees (if you don't want to deal with confusing Indian bureaucracy). Yes, once our UK ones had expired we didn't renew them so that left us ''passportless'' for just over a year until we gained citizenship and got Aussie ones.
