Many people haven't forgiven the sandpapergate incident also the departure of Justin Langer plus a lot of folk are just tired of cricket. There seems to have been a glut of cricket matches over quite a long period.

Too expensive and a rapidly falling interest in cricket. Mid summer and everybody i talk to here is discussing the coming football season (not soccer of course). GrandpaGrumble 152 Posted December 27, 2022 According to Wikipedia, attendance on Boxing Day was 64,876 which is about the average since the regular Boxing Day tests started in 1980, and about the average when playing against SA. The G has never been completely full for a cricket match, closest being 91,112 against England in 2013. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_Day_Test#List_of_Boxing_Day_Test_matches

unzippy 3,972 Posted January 9 SCG less than 50% capacity for the last two days. Given that sport is there to entertain the masses, Cricket Australia aren't doing very well.
