Forklift Technician from UK - sponsorship possible? Please help :(

Hi 

 

My fiancé is a Forklift Technician, no trade qualifications, but 5 years experience. We wondered if we had  a chance on immigrating or being sponsored in Australia whether it was 190 visa or employer sponsored? or any other possible visa? Has anyone else had any experience on this? 

 

We THINK Forklift technician mechanic might be under Diesel Mechanic on the skilled list, but we aren't sure, due to the foreign terms, we are not sure if a forklift engineer (as called in UK) is a Diesel Mechanic in Australia?

We have struggled to go over, applying for forklift technician jobs but no luck yet, we are starting to lose hope and have broken hearts  

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Check the ANZSCO codes for whatever occupation you think he falls under. Afterwards, when one sounds right, try and find the visa categories which coincide with that on the occupational list... voila!

All the more reason to pay a good agent for expert advice.  While you are struggling to DIY, the clock is ticking away.

Do you understand the difference between a skilled visa and employer-sponsored visas?   Most employer-sponsored visas are only temporary for 2 to 4 years, then you go home to the UK again.  There's a possibility that you might be able to get a permanent visa at the end of it, but it's only a possibility. In years gone by, there was a different employer-sponsored visa which offered a better chance, so you may have heard of people who managed it - but that was the old 457 visa, not the new 482.  Don't fool yourself that just being in Australia magically opens up new avenue for other visas - it doesn't. 

If you want to go for the 482, it can be a great adventure - but make sure you can afford the cost of moving to Australia and moving back at the end of the contract, because that's probably what you'll end up doing.  If you're a couple without kids, I reckon it's too good to miss, but if you've got kids, the cost is likely to be prohibitive, unless your employer offers very generous relocation costs there AND back.

There is an employer-sponsored visa that's permanent, but the process takes many months, so you'd have to be very valuable before an employer is willing to wait for you.

For a skilled visa, there's no point in looking for jobs, because the process takes a year or more, and can you imagine any employer waiting that long?
