Potential visa options / advice - Reality

Hi,

Bit of context, I have extended family that live in AUS and due to some personal circumstance changes had planned on starting fresh in AUS once i'd gained a qualification and some experience in a new role. I was aiming for skilled independent or possibly work-holiday and sponsor / take it from there etc...

I'm begrudgingly coming to the realisation that any visions i had of emigration have been all but squandered by the pandemic, so before i re-evaluate my future road-map i thought id offer my situation to see if anyone has any further advice or approaches i could take to help me limp my way to AUS and shine a perhaps small but bright ray of light on the subject!

- I'm 28y/o.
- BEng in Mechanical(& production) engineering with a Project management qualification (UK lvl7, IPMA?)
- 10 years mechanical fitting experience and 2 years Project Engineering/Management experience (only negative here is that the sector is Defence & Nuclear)

I'm aware there's possibility for 190 with enough points, though huge reduction in places for the next few years? High competition and as above i probably wouldn't be pick of the litter...
Work sponsored is unlikely due to time for processing and i'd be hard pressed to find a Projects role with my background, mainly construction based on job boards/LinkedIn, which means i'd have more success in fitting criteria for mechanical/maintenence & testing/commissioning but the local resource pool is probably larger and obviously takes priority.

Don't want to be pessimistic but the facts and reality aren't the best and of course as new revelations unfold throughout the year things may open up in different ways, so just looking for external opinions and perhaps professional guidance.

Any and all advice welcomed,

Ta,

Alex

If you have qualifications and experience relevant to the occupation of Mechanical Engineer, you may have options to Permanent Residency in the current environment, as it is an occupation on the Priority List.

Some professional advice would be recommended.

As Raul said, you're actually in a much better position than you think.   There's a very short list of occupations that are exempt from the Covid standstill  - and you're on the list.  In fact, you have a better chance than usual, since the points requirement has actually been reduced for those occupations.

I suggest hiring an agent like Raul to get a bomb-proof application in fast, while this situation prevails

Thank you Raul / Marisa for the responses.

Yeah, i just assumed that with a drastic reduction of planned skilled visa migrants i would be disadvantaged due to industry and type of Mech Engineer. Shouldn't assume i suppose! I think the best options is probably a more in-depth professional assessment as you say.

What is the best way to get in touch directly?

If you are happy to pay to obtain guidance from a migration specialist, I'd say do it but if you are keen to do the process on your it's also doable but you will spend time reading, going through the requirements, etc.

Your occupation Mech Engineer plus relevant work experience might you might have options to obtain a visa in Australia. Don't spend too much time thinking about the planned reduction on skilled migration, instead, use your time to kickstart your migration process now or at least get your skills assessed by Engineers Australia to see if you will get a positive outcome or not then take it from there.

With your age, you will get a decent score with that easily. If your aim is to get to Australia the quickest possible time via skilled migration and you are not fussy about which state/city you will live in then you have more options and you might get your visa sooner than you think.
