Moogle
Hey, Looking to move back to Aus after I finish studying here in the UK. Has anyone had any experience with applying for or getting a quarantine fee waiver? I will be unemployed and in financial hardship which means I can apply. Just wondered if anyone here has done this or knows anyone who has?
Parley
You do get 3 months to pay and can then go on a payment plan. I suppose if you can afford the airfares you should be able to afford the quarantine.

NSW Gov website doesn't mention anything about it: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/what-you-can-and-cant-do-under-rules/quarantine#fee-waivers Lots of people arrive without jobs, and I struggle to imagine the Gov would take pity on them in any way! It does. Here is the info for QLD. https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/protect-yourself-others/quarantine/fees-payment

Moogle
I think I’ve found hardship listed as a reason to apply for a waiver in almost all states actually. I also saw some statistics (in a newspaper, maybe not reliable) saying over 1/3 of quarantiners got an exemption so far which is why I ask Edited February 1, 2021 by Moogle

You don’t have to pay for three months and can then set up a payment plan. You may well have secured a job in that three months and have the ability to pay. It would be different if you had to pay it upfront but that’s not the case. Edited February 1, 2021 by Tulip1

RecPom
Looking at Fee waiver conditions, seeing this: For international travellers, if you purchased your international flight prior to 11:59pm 12 July 2020 (AEST) I had tickets booked back in April 2020 which then got put on hold due to restrictions.. We now want to Rebook for September reinstating our original tickets - Wondering if we can make a case that we'd be eligible considering our original tickets were booked Jan 2020 and Scheduled to return to Syd April 2020.. Anyone else in the same boat? Cheers

Anyone else in the same boat? Cheers It's worth a try, although to be fair it sounds like you delayed the move yourself rather than the airline cancelling the ticket? Even though the UK was in lockdown from March to May 2020, it was still possible to fly to Australia with certain airlines - and many people did. The headline made it sound like it was a load of "free-loaders" using AUS tax payers cash, the actual body of the text gave a different viewpoint. The majority of free quarantine places so far have been for returning service personnel who have been coming back to AUS after completing their duties in whichever country the AUS armed forces posted them. It would be a little wrong to expect these men and women to pay for quarantine themselves
