unzippy
"Spirit of Tasmania ferries to allow free travel for cars from March in bid to boost tourism - ABC News" https://amp.abc.net.au/article/13037282 More likely the government realised that people are cancelling their holidays when they realise that there are no hire cars available. Seems that all the hire car companies in Tas pruned their stock by 50% when people stopped visiting. For what ever reason they haven't replenished their fleets now that tourists are returning. People are booking flights and accommodation and then getting stuck as the hire car prices are astronomical, IF there are cases in stock. So they cancel. Still, free car passage is good, so long as they don't bump the passenger price up.
