Has anyone had first-hand proof of this? If this really is the case it may impact my partner as to whether he goes down the PR route through work sponsorship or if we go down partner visa... Generally processing has become very erratic with little rhyme or reason. Some applications are moving surprisingly quickly while other languish in in ever growing processing queues. The latest migration program number announced in the budget will also likely shake up processing times, with a few winners and lots of losers with many program numbers being slashed. Not sure where you are getting your figures from, as the Government has reduced the Skilled, State Sponsored, Regional and Employer sponsored Permanent Residency Visas for the program year. Skilled independent reduced by over 10,000 places. State sponsored reduced by over 13,000 places. Regional reduced by over 13,000 places. Employer Sponsored reduced by 8,000 places. Child and Special Eligibility visas will make up the remaining 3,100 places. Approximately two thirds of permanent visas in the 2020-21 program are expected to go to people already in Australia. Of the remaining visas, it is anticipated that approximately two thirds will be granted under the Skill stream and one third under the Family stream. The MARA agents we have are members just like you. They have no vested interest in the forum apart from giving up multiple hours in a day to come on here and help our members. I’m not saying they don’t get the odd member contacting them and engaging their services but I think their free time given to helping will far exceed any paid work. It’s been over 6 weeks since we got the exemption and nearly 4 weeks since the case officer requested our police checks that were already attached. These were resubmitted. Any advice on how I move this on? We have called Home Affairs and so has our agent and now we are completely stuck in limbo. Do you think the quotas have really affected our chances? Add to this that many case officers are working from home, which increases the unpredictability of processing standards.
